As much as I love SU, I'm not investing in this new machine when I can get the same one, but prettier, at acmoore with a coupon. Sizzix.com - Sizzix Texture Boutique Embossing Machine Only
Besides it only embosses, doesn't cut. Maybe ok for those who only like to emboss and it is cheaper than the big shot, but I'm not jumping on board. What do you think?
Saw this at Hobby LobbyI definitely thought about it, especially since I could use a coupon but ended up with the Cuttlebug and they let me use a coupon for that too!
That does seem weird that they're offering this...maybe it's because they're selling the magnetic platform for the bigshot now, which as I understand it doesn't have the tabs to allow for using with embossing folders. Seems a silly waste to have to buy a whole new machine to do something which you could do with the old one. Why not just offer the two different platforms, I wonder?

It has nothing to do with offering the magnetic platform. You still emboss with the regular platform. They did a trial with these a while ago and they sold out so they brought them back. It's an option for those who don't have an interest in die cuts....there ARE those people out there (I used to be one of them, ha) but do want to emboss. The machine and folders are far less expensive than a BS and dies so it's a good option for those crafters. I don't see it as a bad thing. You want it buy it, don't then skip it. I might get one since I mainly use my magnetic platform in the BS and I get tired of switching it out to emboss. Yes, I'm lazy like that and like having it ready to go! :-)
I really don't see the point of this for anyone who already has a Big Shot or Cuttlebug. I chose a cuttlebug because of space considerations, so I don't see myself adding another machine that does the exact same thing, only without also being able to cut dies.
But I can see its usefulness for people who have e-cutters only.

No blog for me. My gallery chronicles my card-making successes and mishaps.
I had one that I bought while we were temporarily living in an apt. after our house sold so quickly, because most of my craft stuff was in storage. Right after we bought our brand new home and moved in, I gave it to my great granddaughter. I think with a coupon I only pad around $12 for it at Michaels. With a Big Shot, Cuttlebug and a Quickutz Revolution.........not to mention four digital cutting machines, I have no need for it now.
the only reason I am thinking about it is a.) the cute factor and b.) it would be handy during classes (I have regular SU classes with 8 to 10 people) to have a BS option for cutting and a back up for embossing only so I wouldn't have people standing in line to do one thing or the other.
For personal use, it would be a handy and easy to take along item to do a bit of embossing "on the road"! Not actually in the car, just if I travel or go to a friend's, a crop, etc.

I know, right? For the longest time I had no interest in die cuts! I held off on the BS for a long time and honestly finally broke down to emboss. I love die cuts now but it look a while. And I mainly use the framelits which I think are a better deal than big dies. I'm a weirdo, I know lol!
But then like people have said too, an e-cutter can't emboss. And a lot of people are getting into them...myself included thanks to Christmas :-)

Glad it wasn't only me who avoided the whole die cut thing! I knew that once I gave in I'd be hooked. And of course, I did and I am!
A friend doesn't have a machine at all and is thinking about this new little embossing machine, and it doesn't look like I can talk her into the BS as she says she is sure she will only emboss. I feel the BS is a better buy and will cover the dies if she changes her mind later.
I actually got this for a gift last year from my granddaughters. I had a big shot, and cuttlebug. I actually use it a lot. If I am doing A2 cards, I grab this emboss and put it back on the shelf. It is light and I haven't had any problem with it wobbling.
I am sure that I wouldn't have bought it for myself as I had the other two (and since the first of the year I now have a silhouette) but I love it! And since the granddaughters gave it to me that makes me love it even more!
