I know this is an old thread, but I just found it cause I just got the rotary attachment, and it's not cutting streight for me. I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas to help me get it to work, cause I do love how easy it cuts through paper...just need it to cut straight! I put the paper on a measuring line, but it's almost like the track flexes or something, as one end is a different width than the other end. I am thinking it's just ME...but haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong. LOL I did make sure it's attached right...and the track IS turned...any other ideas?

I had the exact same thing happen, Deb! They even sent me a whole new trimmer, but when I use the rotary arm, it did not cut straight. I just gave up, but in rarely used it. I think in will pull it out and try again. I'm thinking maybe I'm pushing at an angle.

I have been playing with it more and figured something out. If I spread out my hand and hold it at the top and bottom of the paper and push hard while pushing up on the blade (never down...it doesn't work at all for me that way) then I've gotten some straight cuts. It does tend to bother my poor hands that way more so if I were making lots of cuts cause I was making several cards at once it wouldn't work for me...but I may manage to get it to work for most of the time when I'm doing one card at a time. :-))

I do really like it, as long as it cuts straight...I think the paper is just moving on me when it doesn't. If they get the blade problem figured out, I'll just make sure I keep both kinds in stock, so I can go back and forth between them I think. :-))

I have to wonder if the reason it moves more on me, is because where we hold down on the plastic is further from where it's cutting than on the other one so it's easier for the paper to move. I realize it can't really be any other way...but...thats all I've come up with as to why. LOL Hopefully you can get yours to work now too Kathy! :-))

Deb, are you also remembering to turn your cutting mat over so the flat side is up, not the grooved side?

Just thought I'd ask because when I went in to try mine out, I first forgot to turn the mat over and got a fuzzy looking cut!

yeah, I'd read that...so made sure I did that first! LOL I sometimes can learn from others mistakes...just didn't stop me from buying the attachment, even though I head others hated it. *giggle* I actually do like it though...as long as the paper didn't move on me, just wish it wasn't so hard to keep it from moving. :-)

Have you tried moving your paper to the bottom and cutting up, rather than down? Sometimes that helps me.

Yes, I can't ever get it to work if I cut down, it's always crocked...cutting up is the only option I'm thinking. I usually cut both ways with the other blade, but shouldn't take me to long to remember to only do it from the bottom up. :-))

Oh, and I did contact su, and while they didn't have any advice for me at this time, they did say they would send me a different one to make sure it's not just a bad one...then did say if that doesn't work, they would try to see if they could figure out what is going on. So...can't complain to much least they are willing to see if it's a bad accessory, although really I don't think it is...think it's just ME. LOL

They sent me a whole new trimmer, but I really think the issue is in the rotary arm. I hope they take a look at that and let you know.

Frenchie posted a video today about the SU rotary trimmer. He solution to not being able to buy the regular cutting blades at this time is to buy the rotary attachment. I have the SU trimmer but not the attachment. Anyway, I see in her video she firmly pushes on the rotary cutting blade and has her left hand fully opened on top of the paper. Don't know if that makes a difference but thought it might help those having a problem. Also, in another video I saw this week the demo said to be sure to use both sides of your regular trimmer blade. Sometimes cutting from bottom up and sometimes cutting from top down. That way your getting full use of both sides of the cutting blade. ( hope that makes sense)

Here's Frenchie's video:

Yes, but did you notice that somewhere after the 5 minute mark she cuts some that doesn't look so straight? It did give me an idea though. Since I have the second trimmer, I'm putting the rotary arm on one so I don't have to switch them on and off!

Yeah, I noticed that.

I got my replacement attachment, and it doesn't work any better. :( I can get some to be straight, just not sure how some are and a lot aren't. But...since some are straight, I don't think it's the cutter, has to be me. *sigh*

I have a customer who bought the rotary attachment and complained of this exact issue (crooked cuts). After much effort and retrying, she finally returned it for other product. It is helpful to know she wasn't the only one having issues.

SU replaced my trimmer thinking that was the issues second trimmer was no better so I bought a new rotary arm. Still have uneven cuts. I just kind of gave up, but just recently pulled it back out and am trying again.

I had problems with SU rotary trimmer. It would not cut ginaK or Papertreys heavy card stock, Even had a hard time with Georgia Pacific paper too.

Had my demo send it back. Not worth the fussing over it.
