Anne is correct - it's with the automotive cleaning products. Double-check that you're getting the smooth one, and not the textured one. I didn't know that there were options until someone else here mentioned it. You want the smooth one, but color doesn't make any difference at all...

I picked up an Absorber today at Walmart! ;) Just a little something I noticed..... the bottom end of the tube it comes in, & that they say you can store the shammy in, has a small hole. THAT is why it doesn't smell, if you are using that as a container to store it in. ;)

I store my clean ones stacked in a drawer with other clean up supplies in my stamp room. I have a plastic container with a lid that I store the one I'm using so it stays wet. It is so dry where I live, I would only get about 15 minutes of wetness if I didn't. That's what happens when the humidity is in the single digits! I have always just thrown mine in the washer with rags when needed. I let them dry folded as otherwise I would have a stiff misshapen mess. Wish they would be soft and playable when dry, like they are when wet.

You dont have to let it dry out completely after every use, but I wouldnt seal it up. When I use mine, I keep it in a slightly open container. It stays damp a little longer so can be use later, or with a spritz of water, but will nicely dry out - no mildew/smell.

I keep it in one of the salt cellars Jennifer McGuire shows, when I use it, that is. Now more often I use a small microfiber cloth/towel with Hero Arts/Stewart cleaner. The microfiber cloth gets stained but the ink doesnt come off, and is good for drying/cleaning hands too - so when Im smudgy (often!) theyre great.

Theyre the small Zwipes, and used for tons of stuff around the house. Amazon.

I am using a small salt cellar now too, one that Jennifer McGuire recommended-- the cheaper one! ;) (Funny, I looked at them a LOOONG time ago & should have gotten it then, as the price went up with her recommendation! LOL) I also use some Microfiber clothes now too---you can find these at your local hardware, or grocery in the cleaning section. I also keep one of my cut down to size shammy's (If you read above, I got my shammy at Walmart...) The rest I store in a baby wipes container & pull out a clean one when needed---yes, they're all dried out, even with a little vent hole. I also have a small net laundry bag to put my dirty shammy's in, along with dirty Microfiber clothes & will just throw it in the wash when filled.

They stopped manufacturing that nifty salt cellar (why??) and prices went sky high on remaining ones at different stores. I lucked out on ebay.

Microfiber clothes are used dry with stamp cleaner, and if I want damp I still occasionally the Stamp Shammy. I’ll probably use it again more at some point, tend to switch things up for no good reason. : )

Funny thing about the Stamp Shammy. After using it for the first time at an LSS, I phoned them to ask if they carried or could order me the same holder for it that they used. It was a little white tray the Shammy fit into flat.

It turns out it was a small disposable (but sturdy) tray they put food on - like cheese - at a grocery store deli counter. I didn’t notice, and yes, the LSS gave one to me. : ) I still have it.

I would think you wouldn't want to use the stamp shammy with stazon, as it would stain it so badly, although it stains with your other inks also. It probably would work, BUT you still need that special cleaner for your stamp with stazon. I think the whole idea of the stamp shammy, is that you can just use water, or use a cleaner on the shammy & wipe! If you added the stazon cleaner to the stamp--I'm thinking the stazon cleaner type of cleaner, it has a sponge on the end when applying, it pretty much takes off the stazon ink on the stamp, & you wipe the stamp from there to get off the excess of cleaner & left over ink from your stamp. I always like to clean my stamp again, after getting the stazon ink off with something like Simple Green to condition my stamp/s. You could use your shammy then.
