As we all know, those bottles can make you want to throw them against a wall and they sometimes really mess up a good project. So, I took a close look at the bottles and realized that the pearlescent/glitter mediums might be the problem, as they settle in the bottom and clog the hose. I snipped a small amount of the hose so that it doesn't touch the bottom of the bottle and rest in the glob. I then added a couple of BB's. The weight of the BB's helps to stir and evenly distribute the mediums.
Hope these little tips help in getting good results from your spritzer/misting bottles.
wow, nifty idea. hmmm where can I get just a small handful of those BB's? would I need to buy a bulk can or something?
another tip I learned is that if the actual tip gets clogged to use an aerol can (did I sppell that wrong? probably) anyhoo, the air can that one uses to clean keyboards etc.
You really don't need the BB's, you can put a couple of small buttons ( the size on a shirt collar). They will help to keep the mixture mixed without a lot of shaking. I just slightly swish it side to side. I hope that makes sense. I found I get better results if I swish it side to side rather than shaking it up and down........... just a thought.
You may want to rethink the BB's. I have had them turn my spray funny colors, and has some chemical reaction that makes them smell. I have had better luck using glass beads. (beads a little larger than seed beads)
If I make my own spray, I always use distilled water. It helps it to last longer and not spoil.
In addition when I am done with my craft session, I always take my top off of the bottle, put it in a cup of distilled water, and spray back into the original container. This clears the tube of mica, and does not waste my beautiful mica mix. It does not take much to clear the tube, so I do not find that it dilutes the color of the mix enough to worry about.
