Sure! Love to share! Sponging is one of my favorite things to do. I use the SU round sponges and sponge daubers. One tip for you, if you use the round sponges cut into quarters, if you can get a hold of one of the plastic stamp cases for alphabet stamps, that has the little plastic raised dividers to keep the stamps from jiggling around, that's perfect for them.

There are two in this post. The second one is sponged on Stampin' Up's new Wood Cuts Sheets, so it looks a bit different as it doesn't blend quite as well.

Here's one that I sponged, coated with Crystal Effects, and sponged again after drying. Love how that one turned out.

I have a ton of sponged cards in my gallery...I got tired of searching.
My cloud template is handmade from clear acetate that I got with stamping tools or supplies...maybe a package from a cuttlebug folder.
If anyone wants the template drawn out and attached here I can do that to scale so you have a pattern to make your own.
Like Sandi said, move it around on your paper to create a natural look.

Here are some of my samples of sponging:

Elzybells Bear

Native Butterfly

Uspy Daisy

I am doing most of my "sponging" with my Copic markers and compressor now, like this one:

Here's the cloud template.

SCS changes the photo size for upload so save the photo to your computer, take it into your photo program and resize the width to 7.625 and it'll print to actual size.

If its clear acetate it would be wise to mark on it with color...I wrote cloud template in red so I can see it on any surface.

Another way to make a nice rounded sponge "dauber" is to take a piece of sponge and scrunch and fold it until you have a nice rounded surface, then put a rubber band around it to hold it like that. Works great!

Thanks so much, Roxie! That was so sweet of you.

Jadiebird, I read on here quite awhile back that someone did something similar to what you suggest, but stuffed the sponge in a chair leg protector. (Hard plastic pieces that protect your floors.... at least I think that was the jist) You can buy them in different sizes at Home Depot type stores. She said they work just like the expensive sponge daubers. It sounded like the protector provided a nice handle.

Sis, too funny!!!

I use those wedge-shaped makeup sponges you can get at the supermarket. They work great. I mostly use them with Marvy markers, so I write the color number on the sponge and save it for future use. I store them in a plastic tool cabinet that has little drawers in it.

I also like to use a regular household sponge because of the large holes; makes for some interesting looks. I use those with ink pads mostly.

One thing about sponging is that if you want a rich color effect, you need to sponge over and over until you think you'd rather be doing almost anything else! ;) But the results are wonderful.

One more sponge question.... Do you wash out your sponges, or store them with the ink on them? I know many of you are mentioning that you are marking the color in some way on the sponge, so it got me wondering.

I store mine with the ink. I use a label maker and put labels on the inside of the handle on the jumbo sponge daubers. You can just see the label peeking out in the attached photo. The second photo is the finished project.

I store my sponges with the ink in a big baggie. Ii don't label them as I can tell what shade they are (dk. green, light green, etc).

I leave the ink in my cosmetics sponges, but wash out my kitchen sponges. Not sure why, but that's what I do!

What a great idea! I didn't have any of those vinyl tip things, but a small bottle works just as well. I have some I bought for brads, eyelets, etc. in a couple of different sizes, stuffed some sponge in (the gray kind) and it works like a charm! No trip to the hardware store needed. I imagine an old pill bottle would work, too, just fill the bottom with extra sponge or something.

what kind of "containers" do you keep your sponges in ?? I have all of my sponge daubers in a "dauber" container, but getting ready to cut my sponges, & dedicate one to each color- wondering how to store them ? Thanks~ Teresa

I use the SU sponges cut in 8th's. I write whatever color I use on each wedge with a sharpie marker and store them in 2 empty SU clam shell boxes. I also use daubers, but those don't seem to hold up as well. And to add pink cheeks to punch art faces I use q-tips with an old freebie powder blusher compact.
