I've read a lot of discussions about people using their Michael's coupons for all of the Sizzex stuff, but for the life of me I can't imagine what I'd use it for?
Can you all explain to me what you use it for and send some links of examples? I did a gallery search and only got 2 hits for "sizzex".
I got a sizzix for christmas and LOVE it!!!! I use it for tags a lot! And I have a set of circles (they also have squares and other shapes) that can be used for a quick and easy layer. Here are a few samples from my gallery.
I'm not into all of the other shapes and alphabets (yet) but can see how handy they could be for scrapbookers. But I love it for the different shapes and tags. So much easier than hand cutting them or using the colluzule (however you spell it!) And what's great is I can often use lots of my small scraps to cut out my shapes! hope that helps!
I have the Oval #1 and Oval #2, both relatively new and I haven't posted anything using them yet. I got them so that I can layer the two together, but also use them for the Window Cards. I was buying the Fun Frames and Tags and using them like crazy for Window Cards or Shaker Cards. This way, I can keep the Oval to layer, and use the 5.5 x 4.25 front to make a card with. I got the Sizzlets Tag set (8 dies, four tags layered) for Christmas but don't have the doo-hickey (pardon my techno speak ) to convert them from the large to small dies.

Okay, I said this once somewhere else, but I'll say it again. I'm Cheap. I got mine to use the rectangle die to cut out the center of a card front then I use the outside as a bottom layer and the inside as a tag... I also got the tag dies, because I love the tags and hate to cut. I got the small circles and squares to layer, but I found they vary too much in size. However SU has a punch that fits inbetween the two sizes I like so I just got those SU to fill in.
See my gallery Quick cards for examples of the rectangle layering.
Good luck on your decision. Also I got mine with 40% coupon or I wouldn't have spent that much.
I'm so sorry Lori! But you will love it!! I haven't had any problems with layering my circles, it's always perfect (and I can adjust the size of the circles based on the size of the stamp). Layering tags is harder. I am looking forward to getting the sizzlet tag set because it already has the layers built in. I have the sizzix classic and rounded top tags. They don't layer very well but I bought a third set that has one classic and one rounded that layers perfectly with the biggest one in the other sets. (does that make sense?) I love mine! Good luck convincing dh!
I use my sizzix dies for scrapbooking mostly. Their tags and frames are great. I've also used their alphabet sets although I prefer the Quickutz alphabets (which are much more expensive).
I buy all sizzix products at Michael's or AC Moore with my 40% coupon. I recently bouth the Sizzix Sidekick for 50% off. This cuts sizzlits (smaller dies).
hi Amy
I have both the Sizzix & the smaller sizzix sidekick....Love them
I use the die cuts for not only cards, but also scrapbooking & posters for church, invitations, etc
I got mine for scrapbooking but the biggest fans of my Sizzix are my kids! My 10 year old loves punching things out--we make magnets for the fridge all the time with fun foam. My Cub Scout den had a blast with them, and made picture frames. Easy to use, safe and great for kids! And I use it every so often, too
