I am really liking what I have seen with the Cricut.
Should I make this investment? I really like the fonts. Or, would I be better off spending a bit more for something like the Wishblade which I can use font on my computer and download fonts?
Thanks,
Jamie
There have been discussions about it on SCS as well as the Provocraft forums. There are mixed opinions about it because it is newer and not by Provocraft. I haven't tried it myself yet.
There is also the Cricut Design Studio that is by Provocraft. It only uses catridges but lets you do much more with them (weld, resize, etc.).
I don't know much about the Wishblade but I know that I absolutely LOVE the Cricut!! They do not have the software set up for TTF yet but I'm sure they will in the future. Good luck with your decision!
I have owned both. The wishblade is not user friendly. And the pink one I had the moter went out. I got my money back and bought a cricut, and never looked back!!! I was able to use it right out of the box. It was easy to use and understand. I think that you need a computer degree to work the wishblade!!!

I have a Wishblade...one of the original ones, that I have had for about 3 years. Never had a problem with it and I LOVE it's versatility and the fact that you don't need any kind of cartridges. I think it is totally "user friendly" and I am definitely no computer geek. The only thing it is not, is "mobile"...if you need to take something to crops, etc., this probably isn't what you would want. Having said that, my daughter has the Cricut and she loves it...except when she has to buy new cartridges, lol! Good luck in your decision!
I'd say Cricut - I had a Pazzles which is like a Wishblade IMO they are too much of a headache. I sold my pazzles and bought my cricut with about 6 cartridges for the price i paid for my pazzles. Cricuts are very easy to use and you have to be computer savy IMO to use Wishblades or Pazzles which I am but I didn't like all the set up and i like to be able just to pop something in and go not mess around with something for hours...
I love my Wishblade. I don't like the idea of having to buy different cartridges, because I like the option of using any font I already have. My mom owns a Cricut and she loves it. I guess it just depends on what options you would like to have. I think the Cricut is definitely easier to use than the Wishblade, but I don't think the Wishblade is difficult. It has a learning curve, but if you devote a little time to it, you'll master it!
It depends on what you want. Will you open your computer, the program, the file, turn on the wishblade, find your mat etc... Or do you want more of a 'everything a the push of the button' . I have a WB and don't really use it...if you couldn't tell.
Sometimes the lure of "Don't have to buy any cartridges," "You can cut anything you want", you buy a Wishblade and then find out you really don't want to learn another program, or it's not as easy as someone made you think...
If you like to use editing programs like Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Digital Imaging Suite, Print Shop, etc... You are not going to have any problems using a Wishblade or any of that style cutting machine.
If you want to plug in a cartridge, push a button and have that ease... get that type of machine. A nearby Scrapbook store here, lets you come in and use theirs...free if you buy paper there, or a small cost if you bring your own paper, so see if a nearby Scrapbook stores does that and you can save on cartridges. Get together with other Cricut friends and exchange/use cartridges.
What ever you buy, Crafting is suppose to be "FUN", and you'll get the most for your money if you are using it.
I want to thank everyone for input on Cricut vs Other systems. I have been trying to decide if I want to invest in the Cricut and with the comments I have seen today, I think it is a good idea.
Also keep in mind that your computer is an important factor for some of these machines. If you have an Apple/Mac you are pretty much out of luck unless you own the Adobe software programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, etc). The only machine that I am aware of that has any Apple/Mac compatibility is the Silhouette and that is only with the specialized software (which is super expensive - I promise!). If you don't want to use the machine with your computer - or you own a PC - these aren't really issues.
