Smile "Score" tape and other adhesives

I just joined this site today and I actually found it through watching videos on youtube. I'm pretty new to card making and I am really interested in what types of adhesives people like to use, and which is better for different applications. I have heard the gal on the videos talk about "score" tape, but I'm not really sure what that is. Any advice would be GREAT!!!

Hi! I am by no means an adhesive expert, but I use at least three when I'm cardmaking and scrapbooking. For general paper to paper bonding, I use a tape runner (which is a dry adhesive). There are like a zillion brands out there and everyone has their favorite. I personally use the Glue Glider Pro, Creative Memories tape runner, and American Crafts This to that. I do not recommend Tombow mono, because my experience have been that things fall apart eventually with that one.
Scor-tape is a brand of very strong tape adhesive, also known as red tape or sticky strip. I use it to adhere ribbon and when I am making 3D projects, such as boxes.
I like to use the Zig two-way glue pen for glitter and small die-cuts.
I use glue dots to adhere buttons.
For metal embellishments or other challenging materials, I use clear liquid glue (Magna-Tac).
Hope this helps. As many crafters out there, I am still on the quest for the perfect adhesive.

I like a tape runner for general paper sticking. I like the ATG for cost effectiveness.

If I need to fix a seam, or need a liquid glue for something, I like Scotch QuickDry or Tombow Multi in the green/white bottle. A little dab'll do ya.

I use Scor-Tape, or Tacky Tape for a super strong adhesive, like when I'm making a box or some 3D item, or to stick microbeads down on something.

Glue dots for buttons, dew drops, flowers or other embellishments

I use Scotch repositional double sided tape if I need to print something out on the computer. I print it first on regular copy paper, then tape my layer that I'm printing in the exact spot I want over the spot it's printed on the copy paper, then run it back through the printer. Sometimes I use it to put an insert in my card if I think the recipient would like to re-use the card.

Pop dots for adding dimension (raised layers).

I'm starting to think there are as many adhesives as there are crafters! It's a lot of trial and error to see what works best for you.

Michele has all my favs except Beacons 3 in 1. I use this for embellishments. It's fast drying, dries clear, and will hold anything. It does have strings like hot glue but it's not that big of a problem.

YouTube - Helmar Adhesive CHA 2011 Pop Dots in a Tube

Liquid pop dots video. Demonstrated at Cha 2011. Looks like it's a good product.

Scor-Tape is a brand all it's own and is not also known by other names. Scor-Tape is a double sided tape. It can be purchased via the Scor-Pal website and probably at other on-line retailers. This is my tape of choice. Scor-Tape can be torn with your fingers making it very easy to work with.

There are other double sided tapes that go by different names. Many people have their preferences as to which one they choose to use. Most of these others require being cut with scissors.

Thre are certainly many, many other adhesives on the market. Everyone has their preference to use. Mostly it depends on the project you're working on and what products you have available to you.

That's great to know. Most double sided tapes just annoy the hell out of me. Hard to handle etc. Thanks!

Is the doublesided tape you refer to the same as the doublesided tape with "Sookwang" written on it? When I order Score-tape from GinaK, this is what I get.

Yes, Sookwang is actually the brand name. Kinda of like how Stampin' Up sells a lot of EKSuccess brands. If you google Sookwang double sided tape, you will find many sources. It is good stuff, I just have some problems with it sticking if I tear it with my fingers. I guess the oils from my fingers make it less sticky. Only a problem if I need super heavy duty adhesive, like on a box. When I need it to be super strong, I cut it with scissors. Still sooo much easier than the red tape.

Is there a good website to buy the red sticky tape? Cheaper than the store.

I use Scotch double-stick tape mostly. Zig two-way pens.
