Default Scor-Pal

I heard so many rave reviews about the Scor-Pal that I eventually went ahead and bought one off of the BST forum, but it is now sitting in my craft space collecting dust. Every time I make a card I try to think of some way to use it, but it's no use. Does anyone else have this problem?? I know a lot of you use it to score your cards before folding them, but that's just too much work for me when I can do it just as well freehand (lame, I know  ) Any advice on what to do?

joyfullyhis....You'll get a much neater, more professional fold if you score the cardstock base before folding. The edges will come out even every time with out fail. Also the paper will not crack (unless you're using white core paper which I find cracks no matter how you score or fold it).

Scoring is all part of the process of creating a hand made card. You would certainly score also when making the folds for a box or other 3D paper items.

I cringe when I watch a video and the person does not score the cardstock before folding and creasing.

The Scor-Pal is the greatest for scoring and I use it for every card I make.
Try the Scor-Pal website for ideas.

Use it to score lines on the front of your card to add texture and interest without adding layers. Add a frame to your focal point. Use diagonal scores to create a diamond background. When adding dp to the front of your card, turn the ScorPal with the top facing you. Place your card in the corner and you can line up the dp perfectly. Just a few ways I use mine in addition to scoring my cards...

I have a Martha Stewart Score Board. When I buy paper I cut it in half (card size). When I am watching TV I will score a bunch of it in half for the fold.
I then store the paper open in a box, but I know that whne I go to use the cardstock it is already scored do I have a perfrctly matched card.

I also use it to score paper for boxes to hold cards and to make "other than normal" 4.25 x 5.5 cards, such as a gate fold card, grid card or the spring card. Both these are in the resources area on this site.

I made many Ghirridelli Chocolate boxes this year. Big hit! I also made Nugget boxes and pull treat with hot chocolate in them.

Sometimes I score the card in different areas of the card:

I hope I did not overwhelm you. Good luck.

You can use your scor-pal to make boxes and envelopes as well. There are tutorials out there - just google. I think it's fantastic for envelopes.

Just an FYI: If you score a full sheet before you cut, you only have to score once.
