How come I can't seem to line up these two punches to make a perfectly scalloped square?? I followed the guides on the punch but I can't make it come out perfect.
Do you start with one corner and work your way around the square? Or do you start with the edge punch?
How do you know what size your paper should be to start out??

I haven't tried these yet, because I need the corner punch. I have MS punch around the page and they work wonderful. But my friend has the SU and has had trouble. I haven't had a chance to go to her house and see if she is doing something wrong or if they are just difficult. You are supposed to punch the four corners first then line up. Youtube has a video for the MS punches, but maybe it would help you to see how they are done. Just type in Martha Stewart punch around the page. I will try my friends on August 6, unless I can talk her into bringing it along to lunch tomorrow! I'll get back to you tomorrow if she does. I also know that you must use certain sizes of paper. You can't just do it on random sizes.
There is a tutorial out there somewhere that some wonderful demo put together for all to see. Try doing a search and see if it comes up. I had it on my computer, I thought, but can't find it now, sorry.

I don't know about the SU punches; but if you're asking about the Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page sets, you have to cut the paper to a specific size (as a previous poster said). Then you punch the corners, and then you punch the edges. The videos are very helpful too.
The SU punches are not as easy as the MS punches. I had my friend bring her scalloped punches along and I tried to get it to punch. The corners don't always fit in easy and I just didn't get a good cut. I think if we did it slow, and had the right sizes it might work, but this one didn't and I even used a paper size on the list.
I'm disappointed with my scallop trim punch set from SU. The paper guides on the corner punch just don't do the job and it messes up. I've ruined quite a few pieces of good cardstock trying to get it to work and have a clean cut. Waste of money. I think I'll stick with the MS punch sets from now on.

Yep, I've ruined a few peices of cardstock with just the very last punch not going all the way thro. I gave those peices to DD who loves to make cards.

Yep, ditto on wasting the cardstock. Thank you for the link to Gretchen's tutorial. That is exactly what I was looking for when I searched for this thread! LOVE the SCS family
