I got my new scor pal yesterday...and i love it! Only thing I noticed is that it doesn't have 1/4 inch markings (all the way along the 12" grid). Am I missing something or is there some type of optional plate to be able to get 1/4 markings all along?
For example I made a double pocket fold card/bag this morning and I need to score at 4 3/4, 5 and 5 1/4 inches. The only one with the proper marking was the 5". I had to estimate for the other two.

congrats! i just received my new scor-pal yesterday too! i played with it a little bit, and can offer this... [after reviewing the directions on the box]. if they had placed scoring tracks across the ruler at 1/4" marks, i think it might be a little complicated -- all those scores.
if you need additional 1/4" scores, then move your paper from the left corner over just a 1/4" and score in the same 'track' that you just scored in...
so, you place your paper flush to the left; score at the 5" mark; move the paper over 1/4" [it's marked in the first inch] and score again at the 5" mark. that will give you two scores - one at 4 3/4" & one at 5". then move the paper to the 3/4" mark [on the left] and score at 6" -- i think this will give you the 5 1/4" score [if i did my math right].
I too wish it had more score marks. I didn't get rid of my Score-It for that very reason. If I'm making a box or something with more score marks than what are on the Score-Pal, I use my Score-It. Good luck finding your answer!
I was all set to purchase the Score Pal and just watched a demo on the Score-It at scorit.com on a scraptime webisode. I really think from what I see that the Score-it is better! Has anyone used them both? What do you think?

I have both, and I find that I use my scor-pal way more than my score-it. I think its partly because of the size (and weight) of the score it. I can flip around in my chair - grab my scor pal - scor really fast - and I'm done.
I do what Cat suggested - moving my cardstock increments to the left for the score line I need for certain things.
I know some people really like the advantages of both of these, and use both of them. I "think" I'm glad I got the score-it first so I do have both. But if I had purchased my score-pal first, I doubt I would have gotten a second scoring tool
Good luck with your decision. by all means, find someplace where you can try them out first!
Go to post #12 and there is a word document that Lady Purple has graciously posted.

typically, you won't find sale prices on this item. but AllThatScraps.com offers free shipping on orders over $30? i think. so, you'll save there. AND she has some other cute things you might just HAVE to have

i bought my score pal at archivers. i was able to use a 30% off coupon, so it helped defray the cost and there was no shipping cost. it's a great tool.
I used a black sharpie and put a little mark where all the 1/4" marks I use most would be. This has helped a lot.
Diana Crick is one of the kindest and most giving people I have ever met (in cyberspace, not had the pleasure to meet her in person ...YET). I would tell anyone to buy direct from her if you can.
Blessings.
For all of you getting the Scor-Pal--just a hint that has helped me a lot, mainly for speed purposes:
Put a red Sharpie dot at the 4-1/4" scoring mark/groove. When I first got mine, I was getting confused between the 4, 4-1/4, and 4-1/2, so about the third time I went to score the wrong line, I marked it. Perfect ever since!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Scor-Pal! Well worth the $$ and SOOOOOO accurate!
