Default Pasta Machine worked

Call me crazy but I tried it. I bought a pasta machine for cheap and got the swiss dot Cuttlebug embossing folder with a 40% off coupon at HL and voila, a swiss dot background. It worked like a charm! That is so funny to me!

Default funny, isn't it

I agree, whoever thought of trying it is a genius!! But lots of craft things will work in many ways, I think that is one of the reasons I enjoy it so much!!

Tell me more!!!
What setting did you use?
Has anyone tried cutting with the pasta machine?
I want a Cuttlebug but don't have the $ right now, it would be awesome if I could just get some dies and use them with my pasta machine!

Does it work with any size or just the smaller one? Also is there something special you must do for them to go through?

I have always used the pasta machine for the cuttlebug embossing folders of all sizes. I think it is on a 6 setting.

I haven't tried it with the die cuts as I don't have any.

Thanks so much for the info. I am going to look for a pasta machine this week-end. I think it will work on the thin dies.

My machine is on the 1 setting, it's the largest setting (more space between the rollers). I'm not sure how the dies work out b/c I've not tried them. But, for the embossing folders, I just put the paper in the folder and rolled it through the pasta machine, no big deal. It worked great! I have the swiss dot and swirls folders and am waiting on the bloom dots to arrive.

Just wondering, how do you put the folder and paper in? Any special items I need for that?

This is great! I can't believe that you gals are so ingenious! I am going to tell my son to let me use the new pasta machine I bought for his wedding present. I wonder if that will ever happen.

Has anyone ever tried using the pasta machine with the brass templates that you use for dry embossing, with a sheet of fun foam ? I don't own any embossing folders, Just curious !!

I just used the paper in the folder, nothing else. On setting one it didn't feel like it was grabbing enough for me. But it wouldn't go all the way to setting two so I kinda held it in between the two and rolled it through.
Did that make sense?

I read this tip and went to Michael's with a 40% off coupon and bought a couple of CB folders to try..It worked!! I was amazed! I had bought a pasta machine at a yard sale last summer for about $5.00. It's a nice one too. I've never used it.. Now I have a use for it!! Now to find an elusive Swiss dot folder..This is a great tip..

I know the Swiss Dot folder was hard to find. I bought several for myself and friends on ebay for the regular price and not a whole lot of shipping.

If any one has used the pasta machine with the Fiskars Texture plates, I'd appreciate any tips that would save me using a lot of paper and card in experiments. TIA

This is too funny... Back in July we had a Scrapbook Convention held here in Brisbane Australia. It was a huge event and right across from the Cuttlebug booth there was a lady who had a pasta machine set up and was running the Cuttlebug Embossing Folders through it all day long! I don't think that the Cuttlebug people really minded as they ended up selling their embossing so much faster than anything else. She even had a sign up that said something like "recycle your old pasta machine" Couldn't help but laugh, here you have a team brought out from America to market the Cuttlebug and right across their stand was an Aussie lady doing her own unique thing with an "el cheapo" pasta machine. She told me that the embossing folders last just as long as they do in other roller die cut machines. Too funny really.
