Paper piercing template?
Hi,
After seeing all the gorgeous faux sewing here, I want to try it, but I don't have a template for piercing holes in a straight line. I've looked at Michael's and AC Moore but did not find anything that looked like it would work. I see the Mat Pack in the SU catalog and I'm wondering if that is what most people use? Is there a cheaper alternative? Right now I'm spending my money on stocking up on cardstock and reinkers so I'm hoping someone knows of a cheaper tool for this.
I use plastic canvas. I'd really like to have the SU! piercing template but I don't want to spend that much to get just the template. I already have everything in the kit.

They sell just the mat pack. It has the piercing template, the foam mat to pierce on, and the hard mat for setting eyelets.
I've used the canvas. It works OK.
But a few weeks ago I purchased the Mat Pack.
Lovin' It!
My piercing looks soooo.. much better!
Get it, you won't be sorry.
I agree with Kelly; I started out using the plastic stuff but once I got the mat pack, there was no looking back! It's one of the best tools I've pruchased!

I'll eventually end up with the mat pack! Just like the stampin' scrub, I'll go the frugal route for a while and then spring for it. There are soooo many things on my wish list!
If you go to the "store locator" section of their website they list stores by state and also list some internet sites that carry their products. Check them out I am sure one of them will have it.

I just use a 'big old needle' like an embroidery needle... but I suppose I should get the 'offical tool' it is probably better ergonomically if you're gonna do a lot of piercing.
I also love my SU! matt pack (and I'm secretly hoping there is a "flourishy" one in the new catalogue or I'm gonna make my own out of the plastic sheet stuff above!)

Thanks for all the info. Martha recommended a cool tool and I was able to find it at Scrapbook Express. It's called Fiber Friend and was only around $6.00. They also have flourishes, corners, alphabets, frames etc. This is just what I was looking for...Thanks!
I use the 14 count plastic canvas as well. I used to use a push-pin, but broke down and got a piercing tool. I love the plastic canvas - I have marked with a sharpie on it in various designs and use the holes to line up with the edge of a card to keep it even. Although I haven't yet needed to, I could turn it over for more designs. It is 8 x 10 inches, so more than covers a card...
and I use a piece of corrugated cardboard under the cardstock for the needle to go in to rather than piercing my table! The cardboard is easily replacable when too full of holes...
I use the SU mat pack paper piercing template. I just found some awesome templates on ellenhutson.com that I am ordering. There are wonderful borders, corners, swirls, and more and you can adapt them different ways. She also has a larger grid of just holes, and you can use every one or every other one depending on the look you want. She had the tutorial a couple of weeks ago on Wednesday. I think these are called Ornare. I just ordered some but don't have them yet.
