Received this in an email from them today and thought I would pass the news along.
NOTICE! COPIC prices are going up!
We have been informed by the US Importer for COPIC Products that a PRICE INCREASE of 7 to 11% will be in effect August 1st, 2011! We do not have the full details, but expect to have them June 1st. We do know this -
SKETCH: Current MSRP = $6.49, NEW MSRP = $6.99
CIAO: Current MSRP = $4.29, NEW MSRP = $4.79
ORIGINAL: Current MSRP = $6.49, NEW MSRP = $6.99
WIDE: Current MSRP = $7.49, NEW MSRP = $7.99
VARIOUS INK: Current MSRP = $7.49, NEW MSRP = $7.99
So, you now have early warning, STOCK UP before the prices go up ;)
The price increase is coming from Copic. I got a similar message from Marco Paper.
Oozak prices are much less than MSRP and the fast shipping time if amazing

I don't need Copics, I don't need Copics, I don't need Copics.
If I repeat it often enough do you think I will start believing it? I've been trying to talk myself out of Copics ever since the CKC convention. I'm getting weaker and weaker.
All ink prices are going up. A lot of ink is made in Japan and although its not in the news so much in the last couple of weeks obviously Japan has a lot of problems to deal with at the moment following the Massive earthquake two months ago. We are probably now getting through the backlog AND whatever has had to be disposed because of contamination of one type or another.
Expect car prices/parts to increase as well (and not just Japanese makes) - although there are many plants in the US most are made in conjunction with plants in Japan.

I said the same thing. Over and over. A friend bought 5 for me as a birthday gift on April 23rd. I now own 19, and I'm going to Jerry's Artarama tomorrow to buy 12 more. If you really don't want to start buying one don't ever, ever try one because you'll be hooked!!

After you try just one or two you will be looking for cheap casserole recipes and other frugal ideas to save money so you can buy just a couple more and then a couple more and then-------- LOL

See that's my problem. I did buy a few at CKC a couple of months ago and I have been wanting more ever since. I didn't know what I was doing when I got the ones that I did get and only a couple of them go together.
Also I found a super good deal on them ($2.43 each at Blicks) and I know the prices are going up. I want to get them all right now. How can I justify this when I'm not working? I wonder if I'll be content to buy just a few more. Probably not, once I get something in my mind I can't rest.

I hate to be the one to rain on the Copic parade, but in your situation I would suggest waiting until you find another job. The prices are going up, but if the money you spend on them contributes to a shortage for necessities in the future , then it is not worth it. You can always buy them later even if they cost a bit more. The current prices we are paying were probably cheaper a couple of years ago too.
Many of us have long wish lists of things we want to buy when our finances improve. But we have to be responsible spenders
Just my 2

I decided 2 years ago not to get on the Copic band wagon-we're retired and I can't justify the expense. I've played with a few at a local craft store but I couldn't get them to do anything special-maybe it was the quality of the paper scraps with them.
