Ok, so after going to walmart at 3:00 this mornig and picking up my cricut - I finally had time to sit down and play with it - and I am about to pack it back in the box and ebay it.
When I first went to use it, I pulled the plastic cover off of the mat and all the white stuff on the mat stuck to the plastic cover sheet!
Finding out that PC is going to charge 90.00 for the software after the money we spend on the machine and the required cartridges for the software was not a thrill...
I absolutely love my sizzix dies -I don't have to peel them of of sticky paper. I don't have to worry about adjusting the depth and not cutting deep enough or cuting too deep and ripping the paper. I dont like having to come up with recipies on cutting my paper...
Please someone tel me something to make me love this thing :(

Oh no! :(
I just found out today that I am probably getting one for Christmas. I hope it doesn't turn out to be something I can't really afford to have!
I have the Sizzix, the Wishblade and the Cricut. There are positives for all of them (negative too). The Sizzix is almost impossible to take anywhere (especially with a bad back) but is very easy to use. The Wishblade can do almost anything, but you have to know and understand how to use it. The Cricut is pretty easy to use, easy to take with you, doesn't require a computer, is easy to change sizes of the shapes, is fast, is easy to use scraps. One of the secrets is to make sure you have friends who also have a Cricut, never buy a cartridge that one of them has (so you have to keep a list) unless you plan on using it all the time. Play with it, you will learn to love it (especially if you need to take it some place).
I agree with the first poster. I just do not think the
machine is for me. I don't like to spend the money on the cartridges, worrying about the depth etc. is just not for me. I hardly ever use my cricut.

What software??
I read in another thread that there is a rumor that they might be releasing software to allow you to string together letters to make words....???? Not sure what else it might do. I don't own a cricut but was thinking about it with that deal at walmart today.

Sheila .... you know several of us with Cricuts, you'd better not bail on that thing without talking to us first!!!! LOL! It's a great, great thing!!!!
You can get the cartridges for under $50 if you watch sales for them. Also, remember that #1 you can change the size of each die cut (can't do that with a Sizzix), and #2 you get hundreds of different dies from *each* cart. Since Sizzix dies cost about $15 each, it's *easy* to justify the cost of a cart for the Cricut. Sooooo versatile and so easy.
<----is gonna pass out. I LOVE MY CRICUT MUCHLY!
Um, ya, me too!! I have never had any of my stickyness come off my mats. That is not normal! As for the software, you don't "need" the software at all! I haven't even preordered it yet and am not sure if I will. I am a big-time Cricut lover. If you need any help please PM me. Also go to www.cricut.com and check out the community.

Not a rumor. It's called the Design Studio. You can pre-order it from several places or wait until December 1 to get it immediately. It will allow you to weld letters together, combine shapes (a heart inside a circle) in one cut, crop shapes, etc. You will see what will be cut on your screen. It is being pre-ordered for about $60 and sounds fantastic!!! I can't wait for it. You can check out more about it on the Cricut.com site.
I am thinking you just need to give it some time and keep playing. It really is a different kind of tool and I am excited to give it a try! Love the versatility and the ability to change the size unlike the cuttlebug or sizzix dies!
I have only opened my box and am now trying to find a home for it (I really thought I would have until Christmas to clean off an area to give it a new home - it was a HUGE surprise that hubby said not to wait and to open it tonight and get playing!)

I LOVE my Cricut.
I just looked all over the Cricut site and I couldn't find it. Can you please send me a link?
After I saw the first post I was worried. DH went to WalMart at 5am this morning and picked a cricut up for me for Christmas. Gotta love the man except he is making me wait till Christmas to open it! Can't wait to play!

I am soooo glad that there is someone else out there like me. My husband bought me one when they first came out with all the extra's to go with it. I messed with it a few time's and decided I could live without it and did put it on ebay. I don't regret it. Well sometime I will see something someone has made with their's and I think maybe I should have kept it,but, deep down I am glad I sold it. I had a hard time to trying to get the thickness right and I knew I couldn't keep up with the cartridge price's. I give all of the ladies out there who have them a big thumbs up who has made all of the beautiful things I have seen though.
I'm here!!! I have both & have had serious withdrawls from being away from them while I was @ the hospital with Derek. But, I'm home now & plan on caressing them as soon as I am through with the tree
I think after I get my chores done tomorrow I will make a video tutorial of how to use your Cricut. It might help some of you out there with questions. It really is very simple. Here is a quick tip.... If you are using SU cardstock have everything at the highest setting. Blade-6, speed-5, pressure-5. That always gets me the best cut.
Hope that helps.
I seriously have to get to bed! It's 10:30 pm here and I have been up since 3:30am. Night. Chirp.

Robyn that would be WONDERFUL!!! (after you have had some sleep!) I will be on then look out! Thanks! Will you be posting it on your blog?
I still have yet to try out my new cricut, got mine in thw wee hours of the morning at Michael's, but one of the biggest reasons I decided to get it besides the amazing price is that I found a site with an awesome deal on carts too good to pass up. I shared it in a couple of other threads and will post it here too! I've heard so many great things about the cricut that I'm willing to give it a try. I also have a wizard which I LOVE and there was a STEEP learning curve with that but now I can use it in my sleep if I needed to and I'm sure the cricut will be the same. And now the link:
I ordered 4 carts for a total of $116 and change which included the price of shipping them to me, hopefully they'll get here next week so I can experiment!
I got mine this morning at Walmart. I just played with it a little bit tonight, and I love it already. I promised dh I would put some of my sizzix on ebay to help pay for it! I can't wait until I have more time to learn how to do everything it can do!
I finally cracked mine open and am enjoying it as well. The adjustments weren't all that bad and I'm looking forward to trying out all the special features. I have a feeling some of my sizzix fonts will be collecting a little dust before long..

A video would be awesome! DH definitely won't see me on Christmas Day once I get to crack mine open ... 30 days and counting! I am as bad as the kids! LOL
