Nestabilities - your favorite?
I am getting ready to order some Nestabilities - I want a set that contains all the sizes of scallop and regular edge dies. So ... would you share with me what your favorite shape is for Nesties?
Thanks!

Yes ... that's what I'm afraid of! I'm sure the obsessive side of me will end up having them all anyway! I'm just pretending to be frugal and acting like I'm only going to get one set! Hey - if there is a tie for shapes, then I'll be forced to get more than one set, right?? lol

My recommendation would be to choose rectangles or ovals first. These shapes allow you to go horizontal or vertical... effectively doubling the usefulness. I went with rectangles as my first set and I was very pleased with that decision.
The PETITE ovals! Love the look of the smaller, tighter scallops and the fact that the ovals are elongated, allowing for so many smaller stamps (think A Muse, Lockhart, Crafty Secrets, Memory Box) and a good many sentiments!
But I love ALL the Nestabilities - just using the Petites more!
I have the CM cutting system which does nice circles and ovals, so I started with rectangles, then petite ovals, ovals and long rectangles. Circles and squares are still on my list, I'm just getting them from ucutathome one full set a month with the 40% off coupon. I want all the new label and piercabilities releases now too though. Yeah, I guess al of them was my real answer:twisted:
I think I have all the sets scalloped and without scallops. Circles and ovals are my very favs followed closley by the Paisley scallops...I just love them all. Cant wait to get the new ones.
Blessings.
I recently got the elongated rectangles but haven't used them yet. I think they'll be nice for framing words. Nestabilities are, without a doubt, my all-time favorite accessory craft product. I am so in love with them, I can hardly put it in words. I have gotten one set a month (from Marcie with the 40 off coupon) .... yes, it's a lot of money, but I use them ALL THE TIME and can't imagine how I ever stamped without them. The person who created these is a total genius in my book. So many shapes and sizes to layer in different ways ... work perfectly every time ... easy to store ... just an amazing product. (And no, I don't have stock in Spellbinders ... LOL)

Who's Marcie? Maybe I should shop with her!

Sign up for the VIP club (it's free) and you'll be Emailed a 40% coupon once a month - good on Nestabilities or anything else. Their shipping is on the high side, but even so, with the coupon you end up getting the individual sets for about $21 and the entire set of one design (eg. Classic Ovals lg, small, Scalloped Classic Ovals lg, small) for about $57 when the SH is added. Marcie is the owner and very nice to do business with.
I hope more ladies take part in this poll, I am trying to fiqure out which ones to purchase. I have never seen them ( live in a smaller town.) I do know that I want some but?????
I voted circles...just because I tend to pull those out the most, and they can be used to fit almost any image.
Your budget won't want to hear this...but: you pretty much need all the shapes!...LOL
I already have the Marvy Uchica scallop circle, oval and square punches (3 sizes of each) so I chose the rectangle nestabilities (regular and scallop) and the heart nestabilities.
The hearts are great but be aware that they don't 'nest' the way the others do. You can layer one regular heart on top of a scalloped heart and it looks fine, but it doesn't work to go any deeper than that due to the shape.

I admit that the Cut@Home discount is wonderful but ... if you are in a hurry to get your nesties, I wouldn't shop there. I waited 7 weeks for my rectangles to ship. It was too long for me. :(
Another thing to consider when shopping for them is your scallop size. I prefer the small scallop as opposed to the classic size. Though I think the small scallops are only offered on the circle and ovals.
I went with Oval first because I didn't have any other tool that could do anything similar... I can make the squares and rectangles with a scallop edge punch, and had a handheld for punch for scallop circles. Another consideration - To start, I only got the full sets of circles and ovals because I figured for the squares and rectangles I could cut the straight edge ones myself for awhile. I plan to add those later.
I have just got my 1st set I went for the rectangles and love them already!! Hope to get ovals or circles with my next coupon from ucutathome.
Fabulous price even with shipping to Scotland!! and the nesties arrived within a week!!!
A big thankyou to Marcie for great service and prices

If they aren't on backorder, they actually ship very quickly. My first set were on backorder, and it took a few weeks. However, I recently ordered the circles and they were to my in a week because they were in stock.
I'm buying the full sets now because I find that I use them all, but I started by getting the scalloped in the larger size and then the plain in the smaller since you generally layer a plain shape over a scalloped, this gives you more versatility. And I did the same thing with the squares and rectangles ... I got them last because I figured I could cut my own. But I have them all now and love them. I do like the narrow ovals and now the narrow rectangles for sentiments especially ... they're really nice.
I would go with either the circles or ovals to start with because as someone else has already said, it is possible to improvise the straight sided shapes with other tools you might already have.
My first Nesties was the Rectangle shape. Then on to Ovals, Circles, Hearts and Long Rectangles. My last shape to get is the squares. Then I'll need to get the ribbon slides and the curly labels.

Live in the moment and make it so beautiful it's worth remembering.
I bought the set of regular and scalloped squares. I know it's a good deal from cutahome, but I really thought there was too many and like I wasted money. I want the circles next, so I think I'm going to buy the large scallop and the small regular circle. Has anyone else purchased them individually from cutahome using the coupon?

I have the plain hearts and was going to get the scalloped hearts - I'm not sure what you mean by going deeper?? I was going to layer the plain on top of the corresponding scallop.
I got the rectangles and squares first - because I wanted to do the simple embossed cards. My hobby lobby now carries these!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited! Will be adding to my collection!

I wouldn't buy them individually, once you add on shipping, it's back up almost to the LSS/HL price...
I'd say just buy a full set a month, and make sure to read her blog first (ucut@home), then order from the sets she has in stock. I got my long rectangles locally, and the petite ovals the same way, with good coupons (I got a full set of ovals, I think, for like $35!!!), because the wait for those would have been really long. I bought the classic rectangles from Marcie, I had them in less than a week.
my suggestion if undecided to check the gallery for your favorite
cards being used with nestabilities. My first order, I chose the long
rectangle, mainly because of this card from Wendybell, and being able to make a scallop edge
cut card also, here it is: WMW Genuine Butterfly by Wendybell at Splitcoaststampers
and I followed the enabling suggestion to buy from ritz camera, who would have guessed, and shipping was
decent
