I like the heaviness of PTI cardstock and I'm looking to try a comparable product from another company. I see there is a company called My Favorite Things that has promising looking cardstock. Has anyone compared them yet? I've tried Amuse Studio's Cardstock...while I like it for using on cards, I don't like it for the card base as it is much thinner.
I haven't tried MFT cardstock, but if you want something comparable to PTI that makes great card bases, the SU cardstock is wonderful.
Are you also looking for comparable colors? I know I have a list of color comparisons, but it isn't readily handy (too early to go scrounging in my craft room...my hubby is still sleepin!). I'd be glad to post it for you, though!
I just got some in the mail. I was really hopeful, but to be honest, it feels a lot like Georgia Pacific to me.
I only got the white (I was looking for white for bases) so maybe other colors are nicer. For white, it was a huge letdown. I would be happy to mail you a sheet if you'd like to try it. Just PM me if you like.
Chautona, if you want a really nice white for card bases, try Neenah Classic Crest Solar White in 110 pound weight. It makes a stupendous base. It also comes in 80 pound for layering.
Discount Cardstock has it here: http://discountcardstock.com/product...169&subcatId=0
I must say that it is NOT the cheapest cardstock available, but the quality is topnotch. You can get a sample sheet from them to check it out.
Diane,
Thanks for the input! I was looking for weight more than the color comparisons. I really like the weight of PTI but I wanted to try some other things, which would also offer some color variation.

The MFT card stock is really nice. It is 100 lb and very sturdy. The white does have a different texture and feel than the rest of the card stock. I do use it for card bases and layering.
Thank you so much for sharing your opinion and for your generous offer. I'm sorry it wasn't what you hoped. Stinks when that happens. I appreciate knowing that though. I do have some Georgia Pacific so I have an idea now of what it is like. A little flimsier than I would like too. Guess I'll have to keep searching!
Thanks again!
Dawn

Thanks for sharing your input. I really appreicate it. It's nice to shop through others first. That is a good idea to try the sample pack of the color. I think I will do that when I place my first order with them for a few stamp sets. If it doesn't work out for me in terms of card bases, I can use it for layering. So I wouldn't really be out anything. I really like having a heavy duty card base, it makes the card seem fancier to me. =)

There is a Heavyweight Cardstock Sampler that enables you to see all the colors and check it out before buying full packs. Heavyweight Cardstock Sampler

As a disclaimer, I am on the MFT Design Team, but I am no stranger to card stock weights and it's definitely not like Georgia Pacific. I actually had a pack of that (I use it to print on sometimes) and I pulled out one of each sheet. The GP is way thinner and smoother. The Sweet Tooth has more texture and is thicker. I held them and looked at the side and you can visually see the difference in thickness. I also have just about the entire line of PTI card stock, and MFT Card Stock is comparable to that. I'm all for being fancy and only use high quality products. I wouldn't use Georgia Pacific as a card base.
Again, Dawn. I'm happy to send you mine. It's just going in the "It's ok for you kids to use it" pile. I have no idea what the colors are like, but I did definitely think the moment I felt it, "Nope. Not a substitute for PTI." And it did feel like GP to me.
I'm glad others love it. I really am. I just don't.
I ordered some MFT cardstocks for the first time last month. I did not order the white, but I love the quality of the colors I did order. I think it is definitely a substitution for pti cardstock. I used to design for pti and still have some of their cardstock that I use. I went and compared the feel of the cardstocks and I can not tell the difference in the weight at all. I'll definitely be ordering more. I was excited to see the sampler pack show up this month. I plan to order it so I can see the colors of all the cardstocks in person.
I also just ordered MFT cardstock for the first time last month and was impressed with the weight and feel. I didn't order white, so I can't help there. But, if you want a really nice heavy weight white, try Gina K. It is the best one I have tried and she has great service too!
I hadn't heard of Gina K before. Thanks for suggesting it. I will check it out!
