I have the MS and the grooves are not deep enough and the plastic isn't as good as the Scor Pal.
I also have noticed with my MS the plastic is wearing down where I use it the most so I am not getting a clean line for card folding. Very frustrating!
That being said, I love the triangle MS has to make envelopes. Went online and found a site that had dimensions to other types of envelopes too.
Being the frugal people that we are we held off for a long time on either. Then my daughter went to a local salvage store and they had the older model of the Scor-pal for 9.99 - She brough 3 home for me, her sister and herself. Love it.

100% Score Pal....LOVE IT!!! I can't manage without it. I have had every new model & need to order the newer version for my birthday & give my older one to a friend. That's what I did the last time & my friend was so happy. Pay it forward is sooooo rewarding too!
I have the Martha Stewart score board, and I love it. The 1/8" increments work very well for what I need. I scrapbook and make cards, boxes, and lots of other things. I tried the Scor Pal, and I found the measurements very hard to work with, as did my friend who had brought it to my house. In fact, she returned her SP the next day and bought the MS board.
Only someone who has used both can tell you what they prefer...
I ultimately picked up the MS board, after years of using my old paper trimmer with scoring blade (and since that stupid trimmer didn't cut straight, I don't know why I thought I'd get a straight score).
I actually didn't do a whole lot of research when deciding whether to get a board, but my impression of the scor pal was that you had to do a lot of flipping and adjusting and rotating (because the score lines are/were not every 1/8" inch), and that's too much thinking for me when crafting.
I really only use my board for scoring cards, so there was no need for a more expensive tool than the MS for me. It was $10 with a coupon, and I'm not hardcore enough to want to invest more. I will say that the scoring tool it comes with is junk-- I use a metal embossing stylus for better results.
I like both..for variously different reasons. I like Martha Stewart because the score lines are so close together. It is so much easier when you have to score at 7 6/8"! The cost is much better. With my 40%off coupon it was $17.00 Canadian..a real deal here!! The scoring tool is tiny and more flimsy but I use my large ball stylus instead. Scorpal is nice because it has all the special score lines specially marked - ie: 4 1/4 centre fold and gate-fold etc. I like that some of the score lines are together like 1/2, 1/2, 1/4". Makes it good for decorating a card with just scoring. The scoring tool holder is much better . I sometimes have trouble opening that little storage compartment on the Martha one.
I love both of them equally and use them on every card I make in some way or another.

I bought my mom the Scor-pal and would use it when I came over to craft but didn't like the measurements--need many many more score lines in my opinion. Bought myself a MS one and love it. I lost the tool early on--so can't tell you about that--so I use my stylus. I can't say anything about the new Scor-pal if it is better or not. And it cost me over $100 for all the goodies for my mom and about $12 for mine. I know the price has went down on the Scor-pal now though. My mom and I prefer the MS one.
I went with the MS one..Based on the replies here, and coinciding them with my needs, it seemed the more logical choice..Unfortunately, I do not know anybody locally that has a Scor Pal to 'test it' out, and the few odd crops I have attended, I never saw anybody using one..maybe later down the road if I am able to test the SP, I don't know..but for right now, the MS one seems all I need..
Be sure to contact us about the Pay it Forward program for big savings on the new Scor-Pal. It has many new features including grooves at every 1/4".

I love the scor-pal! I have the older one. I would like one with more score lines but do not want to buy another one. I have looked at the MS one at Michael's with coupon but do I really need 2? What is the pay it forward program for big saving on the scor-pal??
I have both and my favorite is the MS board. First, it's a pretty color (superficial, I know!) I love that the grid lines are every 1/8". I don't like the tool that came with either one and just use a stylus.
I've only tried the MS Scoreboard but I love it! I wasn't sure I'd really use it but I use it all the time! I like the lines every 1/8" and the price is great!
I have the Scor Pal, the Martha Stewart board, and the Scor-Buddy. If I have a project that needs lots of scores at 1/8" marks, I'll use the Martha board, and I use it when I'm doing accordion pleats at 1/4" apart because I have the older ScorPal where the marks aren't every 1/4", and if I want to do an envelope with the pointy flap, because her included tool for that is pretty awesome.
For everything else, I reach for either the Scor Pal or the Scor Buddy. I just like the feel of them when I'm using them better. I really debated whether I needed the Scor Buddy, but it's so nice to have the smaller board that fits in my tool tote to take along.
Well, I had the score-pal & loved it. Then I had a coupon for "M's" and bought the MS one. Since I am a loving sister and my sister did not have one I foolishly gave her my Score-pal!! What a mistake for me!
The bone folder is wearing down way too fast on the MS one & a lot of times I do not get a straight line. :( I did find a solution for the bone folder not getting lost (or not being able to open the darn door where it goes) I attached a piece of hook & loop to the top & always put it there when I am done.
As soon as I save up I WILL be buying myself another Score-Pal & Score-Buddy!!!
I started out with the Crafters Companion (the original) and just added the MS scor-board a few months ago when I had a coupon with Michaels. I have a little problem with the score tool jumping the thin score lines, but if I go slow enough, I can stay in the lines better. LOVE the envie maker with the MS board too. I've used it more than the score side for cards...
I think there is more scope with the MS board but on the other hand, the scorepal has perfect card scoring guidelines where as marthas are just in 1/8th increments.
In sum - MS for boxes and random scoring and scorepal for perfect card creasage!
