I got some Snow Writer at Michaels ... it was with their Christmas decorations though, not down the scrapbooking/stamping aisles. It is awesome to use!
Thanks Ladies,
Just got back from Micheals & found what I was looking for . Some of the sales ladies didn"t have a clue. Snow writer in the xmas section is where I found it.
Also do a Froogle search for liquid applique (it comes in a variety of colors). Go to froogle.google.com It came up with lots of places to purchase online. The lowest price was $1.89 (US) at CreateForLess.com
I was searching for it today and all the ladies in the craft stores looked at me like I was nuts. They had no clue what I was looking for. I think I might have to make a trip to Michael's tomorrow.
Is there a brand name, or is it called Liquid Applique? I ran into the same thing at Michaels - they had no idea what I was talking about and I ended up with Tulip Puffy Paint, which I don't think is what I was looking for.
I'm looking at the bottle now and it say "DecoArt" just above "Snow Writer". I found mine in the aisle next to where they have the little Christmas villages (those kind of Christmas things) displayed. I really didnt notice what else was around it, I bought it awhile ago.

I got mine from CTMH but I sqeezed some on to paper and left it over night to dry and it just looked like a blob of beige stuff. Was I suppose to do something else to it? It definiately didn't look like snow.
The stuff I used is actually called Liquid Applique, so I don't know if it behaves differently than what you have. I have only used mine once, and got some quick advice from here before I did so. That being said, I heated mine with a heat gun in order to get it to puff up. I thought that I might have to wait overnight for it to dry, because that is what I thought the instructions said. But the instructions are mainly for using it on fabric. When using it on cardstock, I just applied it where I wanted it and right away used my heat gun on it. It puffed right up and dried simultaneously. VERY easy. You might still be able to get yours to puff up by using a heat gun on it now.
As for the color, Liquid Applique comes in various colors. The one I have looks kind of beige in the container but after I apply it and puff it up it looks white.
I find that Liquid Applique doesnt do much at all if you let it sit overnight ... I definitely use my heat gun and puff it up right away. I did one card and let it sit overnight and it turned out nice, just because of the nature of the card, but it wasnt what I expected would happen (as in, not much!).
I found the Snow Writer today at Michael's, not liquid applique. The did a little experiment. Without the heat gun it takes a while for it to dry. Package indicates 2-3 hours. With the heat gun it puffs up nicely and dries right away. I have never used the liquid applique and cannot justify the shipping cost. Here is a link to the manufacturer if somoeone wants to order directly.
Also, forgot to mention. I found the Snow Writer in the christmas isle by the wooden paintable ornaments and ornament kits. Michaels in Racine, WI also had the $1 christmas ornaments.
Cindy, I havent seen it sold anywhere in Canada except at Michaels ... the online stores that I have visited do not seem to have it. Maybe check ebay, I wouldnt be surprised if someone sold it.
It gives a great description of the stuff too. I didnt use the specific glitter that they recommend using (if you want to add sparkle), I just used the glitter I have for making shaker boxes and it worked just fine.
I've never heat dryed my Snow Writer, I'll have to try that! I've just let it dry for 3 hours and been happy with it.
I seem to use a lot of this stuff. I may need to invest in some more!
The Angel Company sell a wide variety of colors of liquid applique. I don't know if that helps...? You can also use liquid applique to make faux suede paper. It makes for a very soft feeling paper when you are done and you can also stamp right over it with palette inks when it's dried.
