Default Lavender coloured V brown SU stamps

Hi, I am new to this and a bit confused. Some of the stamps are lavender coloured rubber and some brown.

Are the lavender coloured ones old and if so, when did the brown come in -
I am interested in a set of All Year Cheer II and believe they are lavender coloured - what does that mean for the age etc of the stamp or doesn't it matter?

The different colors of rubber signify special sets. Generally the purple rubber is for hostess sets. the regular and mini catalog sets are done in a red (or brownish) rubber. And Sellabration sets change colors each year - light blue, mint green, cream, etc.
