Default Just What is "Acetate"?

I keep seeing all these fantastic ideas for acetate and am finally ready to admit I don't have clue one what it is. Can someone help me out? I've seen many techniques that use acetate and thought that eventually someone else would ask this question, but I've waited long enough! Time to humble myself and ask what it is, where you get it and is it worth buying? Thanks for your sharing your knowledge!

Acetate is just a sheet of clear plastic. You can get it at any copy store or office supply store. Hope that helps. : )

In the SU! catalog we carry acetate as "Window Sheets".

You might know them as "overhead transparencies."

Thanks ladies! Duh.....do I ever feel dumb! I kept thinking I would find acetate sheets listed somewhere but guessed I wasn't looking in the right places. Mucho appreciated!

I bought something sold from a craft type vendor that was "acetate" and noticed that it has some type of coating on it...almost like a spray glue. It was awful to work with and my projects looked bad. One time I was shopping in Goodwill and there were boxes of transparencies for like 99 cents or so....thought to myself I should buy these...might come in handy sometime and then talked myself out of it. Later I could have kicked myself a dozen times or more because overhead sheets are awesome for window and shaker cards.
