I was reading Mish Mash blog (from Papertrey) and I noticed the Japanese masking tape she used. I'm really interested in using them on my papercrafting, but when I did a search on the internet it was way too much for me! That's why I'm turning to my trusy SCS to help me out!
Does anyone have recommendations where I can purchase the masking tape on-line? I'm a stickler when it comes to s/h fees. Thanks in advance!
I just got some Washi tape myself! I have such a hard time picking and choosing online because when I see it ALL, I want it ALL! LOL! I bought mine at the Paper Garden in Sacramento this summer.
It's expensive, but, when used judiciously, I don't think it's really all that more expensive than other types of embellishments in this particular industry.
But, of course, as in most everything, value is in the eye of the beholder. ;) I can't bring myself to buy rub-ons 'cuz, to me, those are "outrageous" expensive! *chuckle*
If you don't have a local shop near you, as Lydia mentioned, there are a number of sources on Etsy. If you buy a 10 roll package, as opposed to a 2 roll, the pricing does seem to be better (confirmed by a good stampin' buddy of mine that has bought a lot of Washi tape. )

Wow! Ladies - thanks! I didn't think of my local Uwajimaya. Julie, have you been there before? I know the masking tape is expensive, so since I'm really a blue fan, that'd be my number one choice. That's why I was thinking the Etsy route...but I'll check out these other places mentioned too. As always, you're the best!

Oh my gosh--I didn't even think to pop into Uwajimaya Village to look for it and I've been to Seattle a few times over the summer!
I love Uwajimaya's, so it'd be worth a trip anyway to see if they have any, cuz even if they don't, well . . . IT'S UWAJIMAYA'S!!! There's always fun goodies--especially edibles--there!
Do you have one in Tacoma?

ummm is there a WTA anywhere??? (WASHI TAPES ANONYMOUS).. I should take a picture of my collection.. OMG.. I think you would faint!
i loooooooooooooooooooove any tape.. LOL.. that has prints on it
100 yen stores....Oh I miss them so. For those who are headed that way, completely worth it to check them out! Not only do they have washi paper, but you can find embellishments, clear plastic sleeves, and cheap snail glue (that works very well)
OMG, really?! Oh, man, I'd be bringin' back a suitcase full of washi tape and washi paper.
I'm in Okinawa and haven't been able to find any, lol! I have to buy it online!
I know The Greeting Farm sells a bunch, tons of beautiful colors and patterns!
Julie, My mom is a fan of the store - she would eat everything there! As a kid, I remembered the funny smell (fish!) and we could get one any kind of thing there - it was usually origami paper or Hello Kitty. It made me think of it as we were just in Oahu, and I should have checked there! There were so many Japanese stores! If the Mariners were playing better,, we'd be going to more games and I'd get a chance to go! Not one in Tacoma, but newest one is in Renton.
AmberDawn, The Greeting Farm has got to be one of the cutest web stores I've ever seen. I even it showed it to my husband!
I was looking at the tape at The Greeting Farm and on Love My Tape..... interesting.. does anyone have to link to some samples using the tape? I tried to check the gallery on The Greeting Farm but was unable to connect.

I am under orders to hunt down Copics.
none of my friends have seen washi paper so I am definitely getting some. I used to live on the Kanto Plain about 10 years ago so i am familiar but back then I wasn't a stamper.
going to price fabric too.. I used to use it to cover tea boxes.

DH has already sent me some really cute alterables from one along with Pinky. GOTTA have me some Pinky.
I can't believe my luck but today my sister brought me 4 gift wrap size rolls of Washi Paper that she bought in Japan when she lived there 5 years ago. I can't wait to use it with my Kimono Kids SU stamp set!!
I was just reading this thread yesterday and had no idea it was so popular.

I love your sister....and I don't even know her! You are blessed!!!!
Off to find Washi, tape, and whatever you all are raving about! I think I need it hee hee.
If you go to our gallery and just type Washi in the search on the left we have tons of samples!
We also have a Greeting Farm gallery under company galleries.
Thank you for the info, it was one of those "duh" moments, I should have thought of that myself.
I found many great projects in the gallery but my stomach was growling too much and I finally had to pay attention to it. Then I just did not get back on the computer till now. Thank you again.

You're welcome. As always, I am NOT responsible for any purchases that may result...

LOL, I just found this thread. I carry some washi tape and other imported items from Japan in my store....link below if interested! I can't get enough of the tape lately! I use it on everything!
It's fabric on one side and tape on the other and comes in really cute patterns/colors just like the Japanese masking tape. I just ordered some myself and it's adorable! Haven't had a chance to use it on a card though.
I found some at Walmart, Joann Fabrics, Target I think, Hobby Lobby. Just google Washi Tape and skies the limit. I also bought some from Stampin' Up cuz it matches the papers they sell too. I didn't go online and order much yet to see if I actually use what I have bought so far ;-)
I know this is an old thread but I'm always happy to enable others!
Home ? Omiyage - cute, clever & crafty goods! is an online store that has TONS of washi tape, etc. They are in Canada and I had no problem getting my order sent here to CNY quickly before Christmas. Get on their newsletter list because they have sales occasionally.
AC Moore is a good place to find inexpensive washi tape and Michael's when they have embellishments on sale.
