Check out this thread...you don't need the machine, just the folders and a rolling pin!!!! I was resisting because of the cost, but I HAVE to try this! Forums at Splitcoaststampers
I tried the rolling pin technique with the embossing folders, and it just worked great.
I tried heavy textured cardstock by DCWV and also just the regular ivory cardstock I get at Office Depot. I think maybe the thinner ivory cs took the embossing a little better. But they both looked great.
The textured cardstock has a white core, so you can lightly sand the tops of the embossing for a neat look if you want.
And I didn't have to buy the Cuttlebug!

This is great. I am glad someone figured out how I don't have to spend a ton of money either. My only question now is WHERE do you buy the cuttlebug at? Thanks for the help.
I tried the rolling pin with my Fiskers embossing plates and it did't work. So when I went to Hobby Lobby today I looked for the CB folders. They don't carry them in my neck of the woods... Shoot!!
I'm blessed to have all three stores (HL, Micks, Jo's) close by. HL does not carry the CB, it does carry the Cricut. Micks & Jo's are your best source and they also carry lots of folders. Micks' prices are better than Jo's. In my opinion, the rolling pin does not give as sharp an impression as the CB, but it's better than nothin.
