From what I read in a thread a while back, it's not worth the money. It's basically a gridded piece of glass (or acrylic?) with a bit of sponge on the corners. You mount your stamp on the glass, and then press down, compressing the sponge "legs" and making your impression. You could easily make your own from a Dollar Store picture frame and kitchen sponge from the sounds of it.

It's only for unmounted stamps, not for wood mounted stamps.

I've looked at it also in Michaels and honestly can't see much point to it. A large acrylic block would be just as handy, i think.

I also wondered about this - from a strictly disability point of view - I have weak wrists and a sore thumb joint (arthritis affecting them now) lately, and big background stamps are out of the question for me now, the larger the stamp, the harder it is for me to stamp them.

I also - for the same reasons - have difficulty holding a very large acrylic mount - so I have been wishing there was a sort of lever-mechanism to help me stamp.....although I did see an elastic strap that helps with acrylic mounts.

Anyways, I would like to hear from someone who owns one - how they like it. Ease of use, and whether it stamps well.

Thanks!

Hi there, I found this little demo on the stamp factory. You might be able to find others

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xznw0...eature=related

If you have problems manipulating the small stamps and handling the blocks, it might work for you. It cannot be used with wood mounts, only clear or bare rubber with adhesive.

Also, I don't know the size of those pads, seems like you might be restricted to using only their pads, unless there are other pads out there of the same size.

Good luck.

Linda,

Have you considered adapting something like this:

http://www.dickblick.com/products/speedball-press/

I would think you could put the stamp down, rubber side up and the use the plate to lower the paper onto the stamp. May be more than you want to spend, but it would handle all size stamps.
