Whoops !! I forgot to count Tim Holtz's new machine . :lol::lol:
I forgot what it is called .
That makes 21 different machines
And CHA has not started . Who knows who else will roll out yet another die cutting machine LOL
If the stand-up comedians would pay attention this industry would provide them with a lot of material LOL
The companies are running out of colors to make their machines . On the plus side We don't have a yellow one YET

The Vagabond. There's also a new Cricut/HP machine.
Oh for crying out loud. And a $600 price tag
What next ? A machine that shreds the scraps for recycling ?
Or a machine that you program from the office to make a card while you are at work?
there is also the ecraft...which is suppose to be shipping in the next few weeks...

It will be interesting to see which of this multitude of die cutting machines survives during the next few years.
I know scrapbooking / card making is a popular hobby, but 25 different die cutting machine seems like an overload
DeeAnn I think you forgot the "Revolution" under manual machines
And the Cricut/HP machine under Electronic
This list Boggles the Mind !
What were they all thinking (OR were they thinking) to believe the market could support this many die cutting machines ? Especially manual machines which all operate on the pasta roller principal

The manufacturers are no different than others. Look at all the car models, computers, appliances, etc. I follow sewing machine "newness" but I use a 1990 model. LOL

Berninas sew like new, as long as you take care of them. I have a 20+ year old Bernina 1230 that is my go-to sewing machine, even though I have a two year old Bernina 640. I never have gotten comfortable using that thing....
BarbaraJay- I was trying to remember the Revolution. I could even see it in my mind but couldn't remember the name.
Vic- I agree 100%. I just want a die cut machine that I will have around for a long time without worrying about all the craziness, lol. Maybe Bernina will make one.
There is another industry I love is sewing machines. I have my Brother 250D Disney edition and I am happy with her.
My DH is a car guy and he follows the new trends but he still fixes up old muscle cars and could care less about the new cars.
I have been wondering that myself which of these electronic machines are going to be a classic.

Are the ones I have... Just waiting on the Tim Holtz one now too! TOOL ADDICT!
This is exactly MY problem. I'm new to all this (card making) and have decided I might like a die cutter but I just can't decide which machine to buy. I don't need or want anything expensive but want versatility. Aaaaargh! Decisions, decisions!
P.S. How can you tell how big the design (or alphabet) is on a die cut? Most descriptions say how big the whole plate is.

If you are wanting a manual machine (that uses dies and you crank through) then I would go with a Big Shot or Big Kick - they are the same machine but they have cosmetic differences. You can often pick up the Big Kick at Joann or Michael's for 40%-50% off, making it $50-$60. It comes with the platform and a pair of clear plates, which is what you need to get started. It takes most of the dies on the market that are under 6" wide (it does NOT take the new Sizzix Pro dies that are 12" wide and really long). You can use the all-favorite Nestabilities, Cuttlebug embossing folders, Sizzix embossing folders, Sizzix dies, Cuttlebug dies, Quickutz dies, Bosskut dies, etc etc etc.
There are other accessories that you will want as you go along - most a texturz kit (it's a silicone mat and an impressions pad) and a crease pad. If you want the longer dies you will need the longer platform, pads, etc.
Anyway, the Big Shot/Big Kick are very, very versatile, you get a lot of bang for your money and they last a long time.

I have the Sidekick, Sizzix Press, Big Kick and Gazelle. I have resisted the temptation to buy every single one on the market....(but I really think maybe I should anyway!)
Next up for me is the Big Shot Pro, the purple one! I am getting it next year!
I have a lot of you beat. I have a Cuttlebug, Red Sizzix, Tag-A-Long, Big Shot, Gazelle, Cricut Create, Cricut Expression, Silhouette SD, Slice & Xyron Personal Cutting System. I find die cutting fascinating. It's like a computer geek thing with me.
This thread has made me feel so much better about my need for the TH machine. I was thinking there was no way I could justify it since I already own a CB and a Cricut but compared to some of you lovely people I am practically die cut deprived (or should that be depraved?)

LOL! Yes depraved may be the better word!
I "only" have a cuttlebug, but am saving my pennies to get the Big Shot pro so that I can use the big dies that are out there now and the new ones that are sure to follow. The cheapest I've seen it so far is $254 online - I'm hoping it will be under $200 soon........i can dream!
