Sooooo tying to decide if I "need" the Gypsy  It is on sale here in Canada ( Micheals) this week for a pretty good price. I am struggling with how much I might use it. The search features sound good, and so do the design features. I mostly scrapbook and the connected title is really appealing to me.
What happens if it breaks? Can I load my cartridges on a replacement machine? The webiste seems vague on this.

Thanks for your help
Provo Craft has been good about helping people who have had computer issues to get re-hooked up if they had Design Studio on it. I am quite certain that they would NOT leave you high and dry!! The Gypsy is AWESOME!! You DEFINITELY need one!!!
If your Gypsy breaks & you have to have a new one PC will re-key one to the same serial # so you can reload your carts. I love my Gypsy & I have never taken it out of the house. I use it in the evening so I can sit with hubby while he watches his sports. I play with Gypsy & am happy, in the kitchen waiting for something to cook, in bed, if I can't sleep.
It is very handy!!
I have a Gypsy but have not really taken it from the box yet. I know how to use it, but just not that interested.
Unless you really need to create away from your computer, I personally don't see a need for the expense. I find the Design Studio to be a better product.
The Gypsy has a very small screen and you do need to change screens to be able to view different features.
If your main creativity is card creations, I don't see a real advantage to it since for cards you would only be cutting individual elements out.
I guess I'm just more comfortable with the Design Studio and find it difficult to work on the tiny screen of the Gypsy.
Also, there is huge difference in the price between the Gypsy and the Design Studio. Both do the same thing, just one is more portable than the other.
can someone enlighten me on the risks of linking? I have an expression but not the gypsy so I dont really know how it works but i have heard of issues with linking but I dont really know what it means.
I love my gypsy. I never use my cricut without it now because I don't need to go find the cartridge I want. It also is great to take to school to cut what I want. I only need to take the gypsy and not the box of cartridges.

You load your cartridges on the gypsy. It comes with 2 cute cartridges preloaded. You still can use your cartridges without the gypsy. I'm going to Micheals today they have the solutions cartridges for $15.00. I load them and then let my sister have them at her house so both of us can use them at the same time.
