There are some youtube videos out showing how to use it. I ordered it on HSN because of the flex pay and extras you get that you won't be able to get at other stores. Like the bag, car charger, and gypsy cartridge. I can't wait until it comes! I'm so excited.
I was watching at midnight when it debuted on HSN.. I wasn't sure what was up with Ginger (I think that's her name) when she went to link the cartridge the screen clearly said "cannot communicate with cartridge" however she said that it scanned in and in a second was going to be done..
she wasn't showing the things she cut out either.. it was strange.. but I DVR'd all the shows today and see if I order one or not.. just because the lady couldnt' figure out how to use it, doesn't mean it isn't an awesome deal. plus the free ship/handling and flex pay are great options.. and the extra cartridge. I wanted to search around on the web to see if I could find a coupon code for hsn as well.. just haven't had time yet today, baking like a fool for a bake sale this morning. happy crafting!
Pam

I saw this demonstrated at CHA Florida and it seems like another expensive toy. I have a Cricut and can't imagine using a Gypsy to make my designs. Maybe because I don't use my Cricut enough :-). I'm curious how well it'll be received. I wouldn't mind trying it myself, but for the hefty price tag, I don't think it'll be on my "to buy list" anytime soon.

Im very curious how gypsy is going to compare to design studio. I think its cool that its portable, but do i really need that? Anyone who currently has design studio going to get a gypsy?
I have DS and SCAL and I pre-ordered the gypsy yesterday. It may be that I have a problem with buying things though... Not that I REALLY NEEEEEEED you know
I too have DS and SCAL and did order the gypsy yesterday from HSN. It was such an incredible deal with the flex pay that I couldn't pass it up as well as it came with Don Juan. I like the idea of being able to design while I'm in the pickup line at school to pick up my daughter. I don't feel that I use my cricut enough and now I think I will if I can design while I'm waiting on her at school, or gymnastics, or wherever else I have to wait on her at.
I got it yesterday from HSN.
It is really a neat product and I think the HSN deal was amazing.
I have played with it and it is very easy to use.
I have done cuts using gypsy wanderings cart without any problems. That cart has some great shapes.
I use DS but do not real fancy designs. I do weld a lot and it is easier with gypsy
I go to crops alot so I know this will be easier than dragging my laptop and all my carts.
I am traveling next week and will take it with me to do designs for upcoming LOs.
I have attached a pic of gypsy bag (exclusive to HSN bundle) and some simple cuts off gypsy wanderings

To those who ordered theirs early from HSN, where did it ship from? I ordered mine during the world launch and got my shipping notice today, however UPS isn't showing it in their system yet. The wait is killing me! LOL Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out about how long it's going to actually take... knowing what state it's being shipped from gives me an idea. ;) Thanks!
Lisa, you're too cute! I hope it's only 2 more sleeps before you get it....but UPS should have their system updated later this evening so you can see.
Would this be better to get than the design studio software and a jukebox? I borrow a lot of cartridges from my neighbor.
You would be better off with the Jukebox. With the Gypsy, in order to cut with the cartridges, you have to synchronize (or whatever the right word is) the cartridges with the Gypsy. The cartridges can only be synced with ONE Gypsy. (Although your neighbor could still use her cartridges with her Cricut machine, she then couldn't sync her cartridges to her own Gypsy - if she were to ever buy one.)

Heehee, Shelly! ;) Only two more sleeps, and I would FLIP.....
I didn't go back and order one.. decided to wait and get a friend of mine to buy it using her discount at the craft store she works at.. also.. they teach Cricut classes there and she's already said that when I get it, I can come and load up all the cartridges that they have there in the store that they do demos with.. yikes! I am going to save up for it.. the HSN was an awesome deal. Glad to hear that some have already received theirs and have gotten to play with it.
What was the price on HSN? They don't show it on their website. They just want you to sign up for an email when they sell it again. Michael's is pre-selling theirs for about $299.
The price on HSN was 299 as well but it came with a sleeve to put it in, a cute little bag, the car adapter, and the Don Juan Cart. As well as having 59.99 flex pay for 5 payments. HSN did sell out but if you go there now you can be put on an email list that they will email you to let you be able to purchase it before others when they do get them back in.
When you save a file on the Gypsy that you created on the Gypsy, can you then download that file to your home computer?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Lars
You can when there is an update for Design studio, there is supposed to be total compatibility between DS and the Gypsy. The update isn't out yet but is should be soon.

I put myself on the email list yesterday. I hope they still offer all the extra goodies! Thanks!
Okay, stupid question here, but if I have a Slice, is it pretty much the same thing? I've avoided Cricuit and all of the cartridges so far; do I need to take that plunge and have both MM and Cricuit? (please so no; please say no; please.....)

I wouldn't think that you need both, unless you want to cut items bigger than the slice will cut. For the gypsy to work you have to have a cricut and some carts becuase you have to have the carts to be able to link them to the gypsy. In other words the gypsy won't allow you to cut all of the cartridges that cricut makes unless you own all 100+. I have one and I like it for cutting on the go as well as saving paper and being able to place cuts exactly on the mat where I want them. HTH

Yes, that helped. In fact, it's just what I was hoping to learn. Thanks for (dis)couraging me!
I got my gypsy on Monday! I have used it to cut so many things, so easy. I make alot of cards and when cutting the saying have always had a difficult time getting them the right size for the card. To be able to see on the screen how big is a huge help. Also you can move them around on the mat, saving paper. I had said I wasnt going to get it but changed my mind when it was HSN. The gypsy cartridges that come with it are cool and Don Juan.
The only thing that really bugs me right now about it - The length of the cord to hook it up to your Cricut - that needs to be longer.
I am enabling here, great product.

Do you have the Design Studio Software and if so, how does it compare to Gypsy?? Besides being portable, it is basically the same or does it have more features?
I do have Design Studio - havent really ever been able to figure it out. Maybe because of the portablity of the Gypsy I have more time. although it didnt take me much to figure it out.
So I really dont know if it does more or less than DS.
Sorry

The Gypsy is back on HSN...but now it is $314 and instead of Don Juan you get the Destination cartridge. It does come with the bag, car adapter, USB cord, protective cover. This is the one price before it goes on sale to the public via email alert.
Because this isn't the deal of the day, you can use a coupon code this time, so the price came to $267. It's the same package as before, but with Destinations instead of Don Juan. Free shipping, too.
The Destinations cart looks really cool. I can only find a pic of the box (in the ad on the HSN site), but it looks like international images that could be used for scrapping vacation pics or school reports. I've been lusting after the Slice Travel Design Card (and I don't have a Slice LOL), so I'm happy to get my hands on something (that looks like it's) similar.
I already have Don Juan, so this package is much better for me, and using the coupon code saved me almost $50.
I used coupon code C56574. You enter your CC info and have to go to the next page to enter the coupon code.
Here's another code if that one doesn't work: C77807
On the Cricut board, people have been using both with success. (Only one per order, but I mean both codes have worked.)
ETA: People are getting 2 different delivery dates in their email receipts. Some are getting 27 October and some are getting 12 November. I can't tell why there are 2 dates going out. It might be location? We've all been ordering this afternoon/evening and that didn't seem to be the deciding factor.

Thanks for the coupon codes. I had a coupon code that expired 2 days ago. The item is now listed as backordered when my purchase was completed so that might explain the different ship dates.
Thanks for this info!!! I have never been able to get the Design Studio to work right for me!!! Thought it was just me! lol. I feel I wasted my money on the DS.
