i'm sure this has been talked about before, but i'm wondering what's better, glitter or stickles? i *almost* bought the 24 pack of the martha stewart glitter at the evil empire (aka walmart) today, but put it down and thought i'd ask here first.
i'm a big fan of sparkly stuff, just wondering which is the best to use.
I love stickles for small areas, dots, lines, etc. But I like glitter with a glue pad for surfaces or whole images. I also use the xyron with glitter for punched items. Can't give up either one!!
If you usually do just small spots, I would stick with stickles...less mess and easier to use! But spread over a large area the moisture tends to warp the CS and it also is hard to get even coverage.

I tend to use mostly Stickles, but really it's only because I am somewhat accident prone. Each time I get the regular glitter out I seem to make a mess. Nonetheless, using glitter is necessary if you are going for a certain effect like covering a piece of chipboard. I hope this is helpful.
Stickles are great, and I have quite a few, but there's nothing like the sparkle of fine glitter. Buy the Martha Stewart. You'll be glad you did. It's fabulous!
I use Stickles more than glitter just because glitter gets everywhere, in my hair, on my clothes, on the dogs. And let's not even talk about glitter and ceiling fans!
I've seen glitter glue by studio g at JoAnn's, and have wondered if anyone's tried them. Is this similar to stickles? I see that it comes in various colors, and is by the studio g $1 stamps.
I use both! I love how easy stickles are but they take time to dry and glitter looks totally different. It is super easy to use glitter with heat and stick powder, but it is messy no matter what you do.

YEP, I do have some of the Martha glitter and it is good, I like her glue too!
i have had horrible luck with heat and stick....i've yet to find a good way to adhere glitter and have it stay put, and not get all over the place.....i'll get some of the martha, and also her glue pad, and give it a try...

Don't bother, it's horrible just like the other glue pad by Tsukineko. They don't stick, at all.
I finally gave in and ordered the Heat n Stick from SU and am now waiting 3000 years for it to arrive......
i didn't think the heat and stick from stamping up worked well either, but i haven't tried it with the fine glitter, just the chunky. i LOVE the idea of the chunky glitter, so of course i HAD to have it, and it sits, cuz i can't find a darn thing to make it stay in place......anyway, none of my attempts w/heat and stick have been successful......
I've tried the Studio g glitter glue from Joann's. It looks O.K. but it doesn't release as well as stickles. When you try to stop, it is sort of stretchy so you don't get a nice clean dot or line, more of a blob.
You really do need both. They give different looks! Whether I use the heat and stick or the glue pad, I have found that if you wait a good bit (like several hours even) the glitter adheres MUCH better. I also lay a piece of paper over the fresh glitter and brayer over it first. Seems to make it settle into the glue better.
I love Stickles too but find that sometimes it doesnt cover as heavily as I would like and if you add to much it does warp your paper so I have glitter too - sorry but both are "essential" lol

I agree. It does help a lot if you wait a few hours (even overnight) when using the glue pad with glitter.

I tried the MS glitter for my Valentine's cards today and really like how it sparkles, but was a bit dissapointed as to how the glitter seemed to rub off as I was assembling my card.
Also, what do you do with the glue pad once it is full of the glue. The MS pad came dry and you needed to add the glue to the pad when you were ready to use it. Can you just leave it on the pad? Won't it dry out and then make the pad hard. I ended up washing the glue out of it, but now think I ended up wasting a lot of glue by washing it out of the pad after I used it.

i'm not sure i understand.....wait a few hours to do what?
and yep, was doing exactly that with the heat and stick....maybe my expectations are not realistic, but i was hoping the glitter would have the same "stick" and "staying power" as embossing powder, or stickles has, and that has not been my experience.....
I need to startusing my glitter and Stickles! I have a ton (drawer full) of the stuff, but I almost always want to add just a touch of sparkle to the tip of a petal or leaf and end up reaching for a Copic Spica glitter pen. Before that, it was the Sakura clear Stardust pen. It just seems like a want less and less of the glittery stuff to get the effect I want. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

Wait a few hours before you touch it or put it into an envelope. You're right. I'm not thrilled with the way glue pads work, but they are OK if you're able to let them sit for awhile before handling them. I'm usually not that patient. ;)
Dune Lady, yes, you can leave the glue on the pad. It doesn't get hard.
To me the biggest difference is that stickles take so long to dry. One way to "dry" it faster is to sprinkle it with glitter. That sort of defeats the purpose of using stickles in the first place though. . .
