Default Glimmer Mist - Help!

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to use Glimmer Mist or tips/techniques? I see it on many cards and bought a bottle today. It seems to spray out a bit "blotchy". Any suggestions??? Thanks!!!

I had alot of trouble with mine at first and then started to spray it far away from the cs...it gives a finer mist without all the blotches. HTH!!

If after spraying your card stock and you have blotches, immediately run over it with your brayer...it will even out the color very nicely.

I actually bought the little fine mist spray bottles at Michaels, They come 3 in a package. Pour some shaken up Glimmer mist into it. It sprays MUCH finer and not so splotchly.
SOmetimes I use my brayer to get nice even coats. You do have to wipe off the brayer between each coat though.

While many products are similar (Radiant Rain, Glitz Spritz, and Glimmer Mists) they are slightly different formulations and pumps - so they are not exactly the same. I've got'em all. I noticed that some colors blotch more than others - so look at the samples on the web carefully!

I spray my cards in the bottom of a laundry sink with the top of a plastic storage box on the floor of the sink. I get out three or four mists, and shake them like mad, making sure the pigments are all suspended. If not, you might clog your sprayer, and that is no fun to fix. I don't directly spray on the paper on the first squirt, but lightly mist with several colors. That first squirt seems to be the one that causes the most blotches. And lifting off blotches with a paper towel helps, too.

You do need to play around with it - if I want a fine, even coat then I generally spray into the air and then wave my project through it. Does that make sense?

Here's a thread with some good tips: Forums at Splitcoaststampers

Actually, the blops are make it individually yours. It's the artistic side of it. You can make it even, but the fun is in how different it looks each and every time you spray it.

I saw this product for the first time last week. It looked really similar to a technique I used a few years ago. I put pearl -ex powders in a spray bottle of hair spray. Spritzed it on my cards for a little shimmer. After seeing glimmer mist I went home and tried to make my own. I purchased little sample size spray bottles at Wal-mart. I filled the bottle half full with liquid hairspray and added about 50 drops of re-inker color, you could add more or less depending on the intesity of color desired. Then I added about 1/8 tsp. pearl ex powder. It is a beautiful color with the shimmer. I plan on experimenting with different colors of pearl-ex and reinkers. I think it soaks in faster than the glimmer mist though. I'm not sure if a permanent ink would give a different effect. I will experiment and see. Karen
