A while back, someone posted RGB values for SU inks. I love that capability and have been typing my own sentiments to be used in my cards. My problem is that MS Word is limited in the font selection and I would like to get a few fancy fonts to be used in my sentiments. Any ideas where I can download a couple of fancy fonts for free? I could buy some on a CD, but I don't need 3,500 fonts! Only want one or two script/calligraphy true type fonts.....
muscrat....I use Microsoft Word for font selection. There are quite a number of very nice cursive fonts to choose from. Many also have a coordinating plain font that I use for addressing the envelope.
Thanks for these. I will check them out! Patti, I have used Microsoft Word, but I would like a few other fonts to choose from. They have one or two fancy fonts, but the rest just aren't what I'm looking for. I stopped by Staples today hoping to buy a cheap font CD, but the cheapest they had was $20 for 3500 fonts and I don't want to clutter my computer with all of that, especially since I would only be using a few...thanks...
Just downloaded seven new fonts from 1001freefonts.com! Thanks understandblue. These will work perfectly for me and I already installed them. Now I am as happy as a clam...are clams happy??? ;)
This is just the beginning... fonts are so addictive and before you know it you will have hundreds!

Another great site! Thanks. I downloaded "Baby Bowser" font. Sooo cute! I didn't realize they were that easy to download and at Fonts for Peas site, they encourage you to use their fonts!
I love these sites for new fonts. But, it has been too long since I have loaded any fonts into my Microsoft Word program and I have forgotten the next step.
I have my selections donwloaded to my desktop.
Could someone please guide me throught he remaining step(s) to make them available to use?
I downloaded them to my desktop, clicked on them to open and then extracted them (unzipped) and stored in my Windows folder somewhere easy to find them. Then you go to the control panel and choose the fonts folder. Click on File and Click on install new font. Choose the place where you stored the font unzipped and click on that font and click on okay. Not sure if this was the easiest way to do it, but it works for me.
I followed yoru directions and I have the new fonts ready to use! Thanks so much!!

Its been a while since I started this thread. I just bumped it because it had some font sites and someone had asked about that in a newer thread. Hope it helps.
Actually, you don't have to install the fonts. Just click on them to open them and minimize them (the - at the top corner of the font screen) THEN open up Word or Publisher. They'll show up in the font menu. Be sure to go to Tools in the Menu bar, then Options, then Save and click on the Save True Type Fonts square. That way, when you close Word the names of the fonts will show up so you'll know which ones were used. I did a card with 26 different fonts in this manner. It's a pain to have to go find them (with Word open), then close Word, open the fonts, then reopen Word, but at least they weren't taking up space in the Windows font folder.
I'm not sure you can just open them if they're zipped files, or can you? I've only installed them, but the again, I've only downloaded about 20 that I was sure I wanted to use.
That's never worked for me. I either install them (if they're fonts that I think I'll use a lot) or I use The Font Thing which is no longer supported so it works sporadically. Or I will install and then uninstall them.
i've discovered that I'm happy with just a few fonts rather than thousands to choose from.
I'm with you, Gale. I don't do too well when I have "too many" of something. I have a nice limited selection of fonts in different styles that I use frequently and that suits my current decision making ability, which ain't that great.

One trick would be to put them into folders into what they look like to you; I have food, weather, fat, futuristic, holidays, animals, etc., even a Crafts (sewing, painting, etc.) folder. Most of these are ding fonts.

I know what you mean. I've had periods when it doesn't work (I don't know why) but most of the time it does for me. Just remember to open the fonts first, then Word.
