Has anyone on here made flowers using foamiran (very thin foam)? They are really stunning and I have ordered some it to try. Looks like it is mainly used in Europe and the UK. Would love any advise and tips you can give me.
Hi Pam, I'd not actually heard of this stuff, but after a quick Google search, found this . The stuff does look interesting, especially if you like to do mixed media, or very dimensional projects.

OK y'all, since I am waiting (patiently???) for my formiran sheets to ship and arrive (they will not ship until Tues.), I decided to play with some craft foam that I purchased a long time ago from the Dollar Tree. I figured it may come close to working because it is very thin. I made an error when applying some of my new Art Glitter glue to the petals so that I could add some glitter to them........I should have used an old paint brush to paint the glue on. Oh well...as I said, I was just playing!!! What do ya think?
And here I'll play the role I seemed destined to play on this forum, which is that of Nervous Nellie, and wonder if Foamiran is exactly the same as craft foam (even the very thin kind), and thus whether is it wise to heat regular craft foam up. Fumes being the operant concern here. Foamarin might be made of some slightly different material, intended to be heated.
But.. very pretty!

Beautiful! Yours look just like the ones made with Foamiran. The Dollar Tree comes through again.

Thanks Bugga! I don't know if the Dollar Tree still has the craft foam or not, as I bought that ages ago. The problem with the foam from the DT is that you can't get it in white....there was only blue, yellow, green, red and orange in my package and with the white foamiran you can make it any color you desire!
Also, want to let y'all know that I did NOT use an iron.........I used my Ranger "Heat It" to heat the foam. I think that is a lot safer for me...LOL
I just received my order of foamiran and am waiting for some shaping tools to arrive. I can't wait to play with this. I've always hated the way my die cut flowers looked - they never seemed to have a natural shape to them, so I am hoping this product will help. I love the look of flowers made with this.
Im a bit late, but thought I would chime in.........
I make Foamiran flowers and foamiran is not the same as craft foam. It is specifically made for making flowers. I use my iron for 2 to 3 seconds to warm the foamiran, the roll and twist between the fingers. LadyEs video tutorials are wonderful and I highly recommend them. I have started using the silk Foamiran and love it.
I purchase my Foamiran from Whimsy Stamps, if that helps anyone who is in the US and interested. 😃
