I rarely use flowers, but I much prefer paper over fabric. If the petals get bent it's easier for me to straighten the paper ones but the fabric petals have to be ironed.
I don't have a preferred supplier. I think the majority of my flowers have been given to me from swaps, etc. I typically don't use them so I don't buy them.
I prefer paper. They allow for a much better impression should I decide to stamp on them or whatnot (ink stamped on fabric flowers has a tendancy to bleed or at least blur, and ruin the impression). I love all kinds of paper flowers, although Primas are exceptional. I probably have more of those than any other brand. Hope this helps.
I think felt flowers are really fun (I make my own with the Cuttlebug), but I really like making my own paper flowers with the Slice. I love that I can cut them out of dp, colored cardstock, vellum, or even acetate, in whatever size(s) I choose, giving me ultimate customization.
I have to say I am surprised at how few responded to this post. When you look through any gallery, there are flowers galore so it would appear many here are using them.
Just starting out and getting acquainted to what is out there for embellishments, and must say flowers appear to be very popular.
I love Primas the most for flowers on my cards, but I will also often cut my own with my Big Kick and my flower dies. It depends on if I want a more 3-D look or a flat look. If I want flat, Big Kick it is. But if I want them to pop up, I will use my Primas.
I use the silk flowers that you buy in bunches at AC Moore, Michael's, Wal Mart. Just pull them off the stems! There's a hole to put your brad through, or put a button in the center. Very economical and beautiful!
I guess it does come down to the look you are trying to ultimately achieve. As well ,your flowers I imagine would only be as good as the paper or fabric you use.
I am thinking too thick paper for flowers not so good ( for dimension), as well as fabric that frays. I really admire the thought and creativity that people put into making their flowers, an important part of the overall look.

Oh, has anyone tried putting their petals through a crimper for dimension?
I also prefer paper flowers, and horde Primas. LOL And yes, I have put them through the crimper and they turn out OK -- depends on what you are looking to do. I sent a brown circle through to get a criss-cross patter for the center of a sunflower once.
