Fiskars trimmers & scoring blade

Hey, has anyone tried the Deluxe SureCut trimmer by Fiskars? I just got one & when I tried to use a scoring blade, the guidewire (to show you where you'll cut) won't let the scoring blade thru. Did I get a dud or is this what they all do? It's super frustrating, since I got the thing for cardmaking & half of that task is scoring! I emailed Fiskars but won't hear from a person for a couple days. I'd love to hear from other users!

I could be wrong, but I think that's part of the design. I don't have an issue with it as I don't prescore my cards unless I absolutely have to!

So why did they sell a scoring blade? If I knew it wouldn't work, I could've saved a couple bucks & not bought the scorer. Grr. Caveat emptor, I guess.

Hi ladies,
This is Heather from Fiskars customer service.
The trimmer should definitely work with a scoring blade.
First question...are you using the 'triple track' blades? These are the only kind that will work in the trimmer, so I just wanted to confirm.
If your answer is 'yes', then there may be something wrong with your trimmer.
You can easily file a warranty claim at fiskars.com. (Click on Customer Service, then on Warranty Form)

Please feel free to contact us anytime with questions. We also have online chat from
8-5 CST is you want to chat with us live.

Thank you!!

Sincerely,
Heather

Heather,
Yes, it is a Triple Track scoring cartridge (not high profile - would that matter?). Comparing it to a cutting blade, it seems awfully shallow to make it past the SureCut wire, even moreso than the scoring blade for my old Fiskars trimmer. That's why I wondered if the design just wasn't compatible. I initiated a chat on the website trying to get a quick answer but the Fiskars rep never responded (even tho it said we were connected & I waited 5min, posted a question, waited 5 then posted again to see if "Jan" was there). When that failed, I started a warranty claim but got a response that I needed a picture before my question would be processed. Since I wouldn't know which of the items might be defective, I didn't know what picture to submit. I got so frustrated w/ the whole process that I gave up & posted here.
If you would be able to just answer my question, I would be so grateful!

Thanks,
Mary Panstingel

Hi Mary,
I apologize for the long wait time.
I just tested the regular triple track scoring blade on the trimmer in the dept. I agree it did not 'cut' the paper, but it did make a perfect fold line. Is this the issue you are seeing?
Feel free to email me directly at [email protected].
Thank you!

Sincerely,
Heather
