Does anyone have the Hampton Arts 4 mini ink pad set in Lovely Lilac?
I just bought this over the weekend at Michael's. I was really excited to get it and try it. I've never bought any HA ink before. Well.. I'm really disappointed. The 2 lighter colors have hardly any ink. It's weird, because they are the smooth, spongy pads.. and they are wet, but it's not really ink. I tried squishing the lightest one really hard a few times with a small, round stamp, thinking maybe the color just needed to be distributed around or something.. but no.. it still isn't inking. Totally opposite is the darkest color... it has so much ink in it, I had a hard time getting a nice stamped image from it. I tapped it on the stamp, but I could see ink laying on the solid parts.. I tried tapping it around again, to get some of the ink off for a smoother look.. but it didn't really work.
So, I'm not sure what to do. I went 2 states away to go to Michael's... so returning it will be a pain... but, I paid $9.99 for the set... I can't just let it go.
Has anyone had similar experiences with HA inks? Or do you like them?
Life is too short for bad ink. There's so much great ink out there - I'd return it and move on. Stampin' Up!, Hero, Altenew, Simon, Lawn Fawn - and a million more - all great.
Thanks Lydia! I agree.. I have been looking for a set of purples to use with my layering stamps... and that's the only one I've seen. So far. I'm glad I didn't buy several sets... because I almost did! I have several of the hero arts mini cubes, but they don't have a purple set. Some of their sets have purples in them.. but none solely purples.

Altenew has gorgeous purples - what I like about Altenew's is they have solid ranges - so very, very pale to very, very dark in each color family.
Look at Ilina's video for some Hero and Gina K and WPlus9 purples:
She's a full on ink addict - she can probably tell you exactly what to get - I'll send her a link to this thread.
It sounds like they are pigment ink. However I don't buy Hampton Arts in general, as most of their stuff is made in China. For the purples you may be best off buying the individual pads to make your own color layering collection. But as Lydia said, Altenew has set of 4 cubes in purple. So that may be your best bet and their inks are amazing. I use combination of Hero Arts, Gina K, Lawn Fawn, Wplus9 and Simon Says stamp. They are all same formulation, so you can mix and match without worrying how they react with each other.
