Has anyone had a problem with theirs falling apart weeks after they had made it? Maybe I didn't use enough hot glue, but mine is starting to come apart in various places. I love it though - just need to fix it!
This was brilliant and I had to try it for myself. It turned out rather well. I took it a step further and made a tool caddy/shelf unit to sit beside it.
Here is the foam core ink holder my DH made for me. It has two sides to it and we mounted it on a lazy susan from Rubbermaid and it easily turns so I can get the colors I need. I store the inks by color not color family. I also store other inks and pens on the back side also.
It was covered with contact paper and sits right next to me so I can retrieve the colors I need easily. I also attached a clear envelope to each end of this and put a current card in it to display. That way when customers come for workshops they can see what's new and see what they can do with their stamp sets.
I like the divider under each row of ink pads so I can easily remove an ink pad without all of them moving and tumbling out.
I also store things on top that I like to have within reach like tissues.

Here's what I have:
height is 13 1/2" Width 18" Depth is 8 1/2" total.
The horizontal inserts are about 17"
There are 11 of these.
Inserts are 1" apart except the top one which is 1 1/4" from the top.
The depth of the ink pad sections is 4 1/8".
I think he made two 4 1/8" x 18" sections then glued them together and covered them with contact paper.
Hope that helps.

I made myself a ribbon holder, my biggest spool was around 3 1/2 to 4 inches, so I cut the base at 5 inches and decided how long and tall I wanted and went from there. I did make the shelves somewhat smaller as I went up from the bottom shelve and put a small lip on the front of each shelve so the ribbon can't roll forward out of it. Not beautiful but holds all of my ribbon and used two sheets of foam core with some left over and was thinking of using the scraps to make a pen holder too! I got my foam core at Wally-Mart.
Back- 20" x 16"
side (cut 2) 5" x 4" (could just do 5" x 5" than each shelve would be 5" by 19 5/8")
bottom shelve- 5" x 20"
next shelve- 4 1/2 x 19 5/8"
next one - 4 1/4" x 19 5/8"
next one - 4" x 19 5/8"
top shelve - 4" x 20"
my "stops" for each shelve - 5/8" x 19 5/8"
Check out Wenchie's gallery. She has TONS of cool stuff made out of foam board. I copied her version of the ink pad holder. she has a paper holder, tool caddy, little shelves attached to cabinet doors, punch holders, embellies storage...tons of stuff, just scroll thru the gallery and check them out.
