Do you think Marvy is scratching their heads and wondering, WTH?
I mean really...haven't some of these scallop punches been around a while and now no one can even keep them in stock. They are selling for outlandish prices on Ebay and everyone else is sold out. Hmmmmm, my giga scallop oval and my giga & mega scallop square must be worth a mint by now:-D !
Yes, every once in a while a product just "catches on", even though it's been around for a while. This site must be responsible for selling so many products, I wouldn't have known about the crop-a-dile, cuttlebug, and so many other things that I now own. It is seeing what someone has done with the product that sells it. The companies should hire us to make samples for them when they come out with something new.

Galoosh,
The only one that Michael's sells is the gigga scalloped square, but it is not the lever style. Got all of mine at Joanns.com last year, using a variety of specials.
I agree, though. They should up production since everyone seems to sell out all the time.
Is anyone writing to the company requesting more be made? Perhaps if they heard from a bunch of wannabe customers (like myself), they might work harder at getting them out there in our hot little hands. Who's with me?
There's usually a Contact Us section on any company's website... so let's check them out and let them hear us! And remember, if you're really nice about it, they might actually listen!
Unfortunately, these kinds of products tend to me made overseas, so it's not just a matter of flipping a switch to crank up production. All too often, by the time a company sets that in motion, the product in question is passe' by the time it gets back in stock.
This happened years ago with some of McGill's punches...the giant moose, dragonfly and frog. People were paying absolutely outrageous prices on ebay for them!
So why aren't they upping the production and getting them on the shelves? I've NEVER seen one in my local lss or Michaels. Would love one tho
It is called marketing. You produce just barely enough or even too few and they can up the prices, which has been happening. Once they reach peak price then they will produce enough and sometimes even the price will go down a little. They are playing the wave of popularity on this one, me thinks.
I have the giga and mega scalloped round and oval punches, 4 in total (no square yet) and I love them. They are not just a fad. They are an extremely useful tool and easy to use - the levered ones I have from Marvy.

I have had a lot of trouble finding a scalloped circle punch but not that much trouble finding the scalloped oavls. I did finally get a giga scalloped circle but wow. It was a fluke because the first time I tried to get one, it was sold out. But I signed up for the "email me if more come in" thing. I did that and got the emial right as it came in. I went there and put one in my shopping cart right? Well, between the time I did that and when I gave my cc info....they sold out of 100 giga scalloped circles!! It was within four minutes. Then I got an e-mail from the company saying that they would save me one since I had it in my shopping cart. I finally got it. She said on the phone when I called to give my cc info that Marvy actually is freaking out a bit and is just getting the hint that maybe they should produce more.
My friend Cindy (stamp_a_licous) has spoken directly with Marvy Uchida. They never anticipated that SCS would create such a demand for the items. And when the demand hit it was January..and the plant was closed down for the Chinese New Year, so they are trying to catch up with the demand now.
The demand started last fall. Read the back threads. Marvy Uchida developed the products that everyone wanted and were willing to shell out big bucks for... SCS mass hysteria! IMHO, they couldn't get the quality product made for the quantity of production demanded. Even tho they have lost out on mega bucks, at least they haven't produced low a standard product just to fill the orders.

I never knew about them until I saw them here and all the beautiful creations people have posted!! Marvy should pay SCS a commission for selling so many for them -lol!!
I still remember when my dd was little and there was no internet or ebay. People were advertising the dolls in the local paper for outrageous prices. And yes, I got her one.
In a year or so, everyone will have these punches, and they will be in the clearance bins, lol.

I was one of those kids who asked for a cabbage patch doll that crazy Christmas. My mom tried to break it to me gently I might not get one since they were really hard to find. I told her not to worry, Santa would bring me one. Well good ol' Santa came through, wish he'd bring me a few more scallop punches! Got the circles, working on the others.

I was part of the target audience at the time and thought the CPD were dumb as heck. But, when Santa brought me one for Xmas I had to decide to be grateful and like the d*** thing. I wouldn't have to work so hard at liking a scallop punch, tho! I've already begun expecting my LSS to call and let me know my giga scallop oval is in, even tho they told me the end of the month.
I just ordered the giga scallop oval punch directly from Marvy's website. Free shipping if you spend $40. The site didn't say they were out of stock, but in the confirmation email it said that my order would be subject to product availability, and that backordered items would automatically be cancelled.
I just got mine from Ebay. I paid too much for it, but I wanted it and I was compulsive. The only good thing about it was that I received it in 2 days.
I agree with most of what is posted here, but I would think they are assuming its a fad thing in the hobby, so they don't want to up the production and then get stuck with them all. It's hard to figure out stuff like that from their standpoint. This craze won't last forever. In fact, I have one I inherited, but I just borrow from others for the rest, no need to buy here, considering what I think is a high cost, anyway.

I hunted high and low for scalloped punches at my local scrapping and stamping stores . . . and had no luck at all. I went on e-bay this past summer and had no luck either. I finally found all of them on Franticstamper.com. Fran is awesome and she is one of the few people that are able to get them straight from Marvy in a timely manner. They are all the clever lever punches and they work great. Go to Fran and she will help you with all the scalloped punches you could possibly want. She even sells the new heart ones.
