I am curious. We just moved into a new house and after unpacking many, many boxes in my craftroom, I realized I have A LOT of dew drops. I believe I saw a pic of someone's room here on SCS showing a mixture of several colors together into one large container.
My question: do you store each color of dew drops in the cute little containers they come in OR do you combine them all into another container? I like the way they look all lined up on the shelf but for practical reasons, I could see how combining them would free up more space.

I store mine in the original container and have them in a basket on my desk. I don't think that I will ever put them all in one container, it would make it harder for me to find the one color that I need.
Ok ladies, clue me in. What are dew drops?? I love how you put them in containers as they look soooo yummy!
I don't know if I'm allowed to put a direct link to a vendor showing what dew drops are, but if you do an internet search for "dew drops", you will get lots of hits. You can also do a search in the SCS gallery for "dew drops" and you can see lots of examples how these beautiful embellishments are used on projects.
I will warn you though: they are very addictive! Good luck.

Reason: Was not finished....lol.
I put mine in containers together. They are like the ones used above, but I have my drops in 3. (I don't have as many as they have.) It does make it harder to get the color I want, but I have less space to store stuff in, so a few seconds of my time looking is worth the few feet of space I get for storage, lol
I just wondered "What they are" not necessarily who there made by.
Guess I wasn't very clear on what I meant....sorry.
Still wondering though:confused:
They are colored acrylic round embellishments that are flat on one side so they can be mounted on cards, paper projects, scrapbook pages, etc. They come in a variety of colors. I LOVE mine. I use them all the time.
My storage is a small plastic container also that I purchased from Target with a few separate compartments and a lift out tray.
I bought mine at Michaels in the floral section. I dyed most of them myself with Tim Holtz alcohol inks and Copic reinkers. That's why I have such large quantities. Lol

I believe the little round black Dew Drop containers- not the jars- would fit in the CTMH briefcase thing with foam dividers. Ok, so I"m not very clear when typing today, lol!
I rarely use my Dew Drops- the ones I have include lots of 'bubbles' in them, and when I put them on a card, those bubbles are all I can see!

What is the easier way to dye them yourself? How do you dye yours?

I put the clear ones in a ziploc baggie. Add a few drops of alcohol ink and squish it around until all the drops are coated. Let them sit for a minute or so and then dump them out onto waxed paper on a plate or ink proof surface or onto aluminum foil. Let the dry and voila! You have dew drops in any color that you like. (You may want to wear plastic gloves as alcohol inks stain. Ask me how I know :rolleyes

HTH!
That's awesome! You have so many colors! What type of alcohol ink fo you use? I'm definetly going to pick some up the next time I'm at Michael's! Thanks for all of your help!:-D

I color the clear ones from Michaels with alcohol inks as well. Yep, gloves are pretty important when you do this - imagine green fingernails - HA! Anyway, I then store mine in electrical tape containers - round plastic that DH brings home from work. I sort them by color.

I used both Tim Holtz Adirondak inks and Copic Various refills. Both are alcohol based so they stick to plastic. Or you can color the bottoms of the clear ones with Sharpie, Bic Mark-Its or Copic markers and the color shows through making it look like the entire drop is colored. I've also heard of people using a small circle punch and putting that colored paper under the clear drop for the same effect. And lastly, I've used Stickles to adhere them and the colored glitter shows through.
I'm not very hip on making my own products after the home made glue dot disaster but I wanted dew drops and I didn't want just one color. I wanted lots of colors...just like the ribbon...just like the copic markers...just like the patterned paper...just like the punches!!! Yikes!! When does it end? When I was making DH's Valentine I decided to attempt my own Dew Drops again. I had some glitter glue sticks and I really took my time. I wanted three different sizes and I wanted them to be as round as they could possibly be. They turned out perfect. They sparkled and 95% of them were usable. I know you can make these yourself with good results but I feel like I'm missing out by not having any. Hubby was so proud of his card. He kept saying this was the best Valentine's Day ever. He made me an awesome card as well...complete with stitching. He said not to let it get out that he likes to stitch. It's not manly,LOL!
Here's how I store mine. It was so hard to take them out of those adorable little bottles, but such a pain and space hog to leave them. I separated all the colors from the multi-colored bottles, and put them in one of the trays in my tacklebox. Its soooo much easier to get out what I need!

I like the way you store your dew drops. You can get a few colors into each box and they don't take up as much room either. I will have to try this when I get more dew drops. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

They look so pretty, and I can see how this would be a huge timesaver in the end. Thanks for letting us see!

Cher, where did you buy yours? And what did you do with the cute little bottles?
