ok please don't stone me (at least not yet)
Im fairly new to stamping, been doing SU for about 6 months or so....anyway my question is I keep seeing these absolutely WONDERFUL cards on here with these backgrounds that look a lot like dry embossing. Is that what the cuttlebug does?? Do you guys like it , how much does it run, and would you recommend it because if that is what it is those cards are exquisite!!

Yep...those backgrounds are done with the cuttlebug (CB). A wonderful invention! I love mine...but so far only have a few embossing folders (swirl/thank you). I haven't bought any CB dies yet, but I'm sure I will!
I bought my CB at "M" with a 40% off coupon which brought the price down to about $50.
There is a thread in the tools forum just for CB questions and help.
HTH
Momis Mama is soooo right. You'll *need* one before too long. I haven't used mine much because I've been obsessed with organizing right now, but I had to have it. It's wonderful and pretty affordable compared to what else is out there. Take a coupon to Michael's. Don't let them try to tell you you can't use on Cuttlebug products because it is NOT a Cricut product.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my bug !! I now own every embossing folder for it except the new Sledding one.... but I'm anxiously stalking both All That Scraps and Eclectic Paperie waiting for it to come in. I have tons of dies including Olivia and Red Tag alphabet and use Sizzix dies with it as well. Get one and you won't regret it !!
I am still in *waiting* for my bug BUT have been able to use the file swirls using the rolling pin method that was posted here or in someones blog...I am really getting the hang of it while I wait!
My name is Michelle, and I'm an addict... The cuttlebug is just one of the things I've discovered here and just had to have! I don't regret it for a moment, however. I had considered a Sizzix machine for quite a while and kept putting it off because it was so expensive and at the time, all the talk was about the die cuts...and I just felt I wouldn't use them much.
Then, along came all this gorgeous embossing stuff and when I saw the machine, the reasonable price if it and the folders and dies and the fact that I could use the coupons...well, I bit the bullet...and haven't looked back since. One thing I especially liked was that you can use all the other brands of dies and texture plates in it. That was really the kicker for me. It's sooo darned easy to operate, takes up so little room and is so very versatile...I'm so glad I waited and went this direction!
ok thats it you guys have talked me into it (who am I kidding I was already gonna do it) I MUST have one....on the list for tomorrow a trip to the "M"!
That 50% off coupon from Joann is the perfect thing -- but take it to Michaels. Michaels sells the CB for less than Joann. That's what I did. You will love it!

The CB sells for less at our local JoAnn's than it does at Michael's. I got mine for 40% off at JoAnn's.
Is there a gallery somewhere that shows how people have combined the cuttlebug and stamping? I almost bought a Cuttlebug today but wasn't sure what I would do with it once I got it home. I was hoping to find examples for inspiration.

You might try searching the gallery using the word cuttlebug. Or if you know a specific die or emboss then search that. I love my cuttlebug!

Thanks again! I bought it today and got it for $40! I am very happy except I bought it on the way to work and can't play until tomorrow.
