:( do the cuttle bug die pads break often?? I was cutting some letters & ran it through the cuttlebug .......& crackkkkkkkkkk. I did everything like it says to do it with A pad then B pad & my die foam side up & then my chipboard (which isn't that thick...its a cereal box & then paper glued over that, & then my other B pad???? Also do your pads get all cut up from using the dies??? This is the first die I've ran through the cuttlebug???? HELP PLEASE!!!! :( :(
They don't break often, but they will eventually because of the stress they undergo. But dies "cutting" the plates is what you should be seeing. Every cuttlebug is going to be slightly different so when you are using sandwich recipes you need to also use judgment based on how much force you need to apply to get the sandwich to go through. You may need to do some substitutions if it feels like it's going to be tight enough to break. And know that you've had one that has broke you've got an idea of how much is too much.

it shouldn't crack the first time you use it - but they do eventually break - when you are using dies they "etch" into the B plates which over time they will start to crack and eventually break. (akin to if you get a chip in your windshield...overtime the crack will grow and eventually your windshield will break) I get a little more life out of them by taping them up with clear packing tape when I really start to see them split and using that for the bottom plate.
I also have a set of B plates that are just for using the embossing folders so they don't get marked up...

Oh I so feel for you, the first time I used my bigshot I rolled the plates through and heard this terrible crack and the plate came out OK but had scratches all over it. No cracks but boy when you dont expect it that sound can sure scare a person!

I'm unclear on what the OP was saying. Did her DIE plate break, or was it the B plate? I've never had a die plate break and I'd be very upset if it did!
I've read about the early batch of B plates breaking easily. You might have gotten an old set with the old batch of B plates. Provo Craft replaced those for early users. You could you contact them and let them know yours broke the very first time you used it and they might replace it for you.
I've never had a plate break and mine are really beat up looking, however, if it's really hard to roll through, I stop and adjust my plates (i.e. remove one and use chipboard shims, etc.).
I've been using the same ones for a year. That said, they'll probably break next time I use them...LOL! Anyway, sorry you had one break so soon. All is not lost though. Lots of people have said that they have good luck taping the broken one together and using it on the bottom. At least you could get a little more life out of them that way.
