I am new as of 10 minutes ago. I can make the cards but need to learn where to buy the cool paper sets and figures to add like Santa, penguins, etc. Appreciate any help. Donna1952
I think looking through the gallery and finding cards you like and hopefully they shared information on the product used. That could help you know which product you are drawn to, then you can find it to purchase. I agree with the Scrapbook.com for shopping. There are many other stores, but they carry a large variety.
Are you asking about ephemera? (pre-printed images) Lots of companies make that...you can google it. I like Graphic 45s....these things often tie into a given paper collection but are very useable on their own too.
check out Spellbinders. They have monthly clubs. I belong to the Small Die of The Month Club... it's $15.90 a month charged to whatever card/account you list. They have a Large Die club, a stamp club, etc. They offer Value Clubs which can be more than one, and offer a slight discount for additional monthly clubs.
Can you show an example of a card you admire? I have hundreds of resources for cute things. Some of us are button girls, while others are bling, ribbon, washi, cabochons, beading, etc.... We all have great resources to help if we could have an example of something specific you are inspired by. Big Welcome.
If you’re in Ontario I would try those Ontario Canada I would try the dollar trees because some of them have the most amazing papers you could also try Ecstasy Crafts that’s in Shannonville hope this information helps
Welcome to Splitcoast Stampers!
It would help you if you can narrow down the styles you like either from our gallery or Pinterest, then you can find out the names of the companies those stampers use, then you can check out their websites, and other companies that sell Many brands.
If you sign up with the stampers' websites and companies that sell supplies to receive their emails, you will receive notifications of specials and sales. Some companies will list as ephemera or die cuts, which are pre-printed and pre-cut. I know that Tim Holtz has bags of ephemera of various images. Spellbinders kits include some, and many kits are on sale/clearance.
Have fun!
One thing I would suggest, if you want any advice from someone who went into card making feet first, is to collect the cute decorations slowly and sparingly! I have gone through a couple of style changes since I started making cards. I have given away almost everything I thought I needed when I first got started making cards! I could probably give away a lot more and not miss it, because it is just not what I use now. I think it is just normal to change along this creative journey. One of my "for instances" is that I have collected a lot of different watercolor mediums, because I saw what other people were doing with them and I liked the end result. Well, I have finally accepted that I am just not good with anything that uses water. I don't have the patience to make things that I end up not using while get better, so I have (pretty much) given up . I think learning new techniques is probably what has changed my style the most over the years. Take my advice for what you want to, but I have seen it given to new card makers a lot over the years.
If you let me know what types of things you are looking for, if I have it to share, send me your address through a private message, and I will pass a small package of things on to you.
I hit thrift stores (Goodwills, etc) for great ribbon, buttons, other embellishments for cards! Don’t forget to google garage sales in your area (and type in words like scrapbook, paper, ribbon, stamps in the search bar). It will lead you to specific garage sales in your area of people unloading their stash. I have found many a great deal at garage sales!
