Instead of getting a Cropodile I waited and got a bigbite and I really use it a lot. It will punch through anything and set even the stiffest eyelets. The BB is one of favorite tools.
Love it! Love them...
Got the original first with some prize money, and then the Big Bite too for the longer reach. I don't use it as often, but enough to be worth it. The CAD lives in a drawer under my computer monitor so I always know exactly where to find it. I practised with eyelets in colours I wasn't likely to use, till I got the hang of how much pressure to apply.
Love my crop a dile big bite! Have had many different tools for eyelets and this is by far my fav! Takes a little getting used to but it is so nice and quiet and effective! Stacey
I have and use both of them...I'm less likely to lose either one in my piles of cardmaking/scrapbooking supplies. I've only ruined a few eyelets thus far, and it's so much quieter. Love them both!!

I do like it...never used the hammer method much. I only have because I got it at a 20% discount. I don't use eyelets very often anymore but it sure is cute for the window in the little retro camper from SU's Happy Camper. I use the jumbo eyelets for that.

I know this is an old thread, but I just recently got a Big Bite. Before buying it, I checked out a lot of youtube videos. The one that impressed me the most was done by someone who had problems setting eyelets because the back of the eyelet was so distorted. He/She said instead of using C and 3 for the settings, use C and 4 because it won't crush the back of the eyelet as badly. Hope this helps.
I neither love it or hate it, just so-so. It punches holes easily thru almost anything but I'm not thrilled with the way small eyelets look. It's cumbersome with my small hands too. If I had more space I'd go for the Big Bite.
Is it true that their brand of eyelets work the best with it? The smallest Making Memories and SU brands are the only ones I've tried so far.
I never use it to set eyelets. I love how it cuts through any material. As a mixed media artist that is important to me. I have little hands and the CAD can be hard to manage at times. I would like WRMK to release a CAD that is just like a leather punch. Different size hole punches but no eyelet setter. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I love mine, but I only use it about once a year! I don't care much for eyelets anymore. But I love using the hole punch. We keep a large desk calendar on our refrigerator, and we use magnets to keep it on there. We actually don't have much trouble keeping it up there now, because we bought these really strong rare earth magnets for my son's science project awhile back, but before that it was difficult to get it to stay. So I made the two punch holes at the top of the calendar bigger with a hole punch. The first couple of years I did it the old fashioned way with a hammer and anywhere hole punch. Then I got the cropodile and WOW!! It's an overused cliche, but it really does cut through that thing like butter! After we get those two holes large enough, we have these little magnets that look like push pins that we put in each hole. . Like I said, they aren't much needed anymore since we have the rare earth magnets, but the Cropodile is SO handy when you need it that I'll never get rid of it.

Hate the cropadile. Still use my little kit with the punch and hammer and setting tool. Also, I have an eyelet setter that is probable close to fifty years old that I used when I did a lot of sewing. Used is for belts (when they matched our dresses) and a lot for costuming when I did girdles for period costumes. It can be used for cards too but I find it too much trouble. Have used cropadile at various stamp caps etc. Even some of the demos seem to scrunch up the eyelets with it. Too much $$ for what I'd use it for.
Like many others, I love it when I remember that I have it. I also have the Big Bite, which I couldn't resist getting for $10 in the Wal-Mart clearance aisle about a year or so ago. It's still in the package, but I have great intentions for it!

That is where I got mine. I hadn't intended to buy it because I had the original but when I saw the Big Bite for $10 I couldn't resist.
I like that it punches through anything, but I find it hard to line up exactly where I want the hole punched. I need more practice with eyelets, too, mine tend to come out smooshed as well.
I could do without it, but it's handy to have, especially with a 50% coupon.
I like that it punches through anything, but I've had smooshed eyelets. The instructions were awful. I didn't realize WRMK had PDF instructions, I might have to take a look.
I love them! Have the Big Bite, too. I don't use them often but when I do I'm thankful I have them! Even end up using them for non stamping/scrapbooking things.
.....much. I could never get it to work for me. I have gone back to the "old school" process. MM has a kit in a tin with the hammer and eyelet setters. Love it and the noise doesn't bother me.
Unfortunately, that being said, I have to wait until everyone (including the dog) is gone. No one else likes the noise!
Thanks for the question and good luck in learning to use it!!
I have a CAD, but I'm really bummed as the small eyelet setter broke!! I couldn't believe it...went to use it the other day, and found the piece that sticks out was broken. Now I'm trying to decide what to do as that's the only eyelet setter I have.
I love it so much that I'm always surprised to see the question!!
I use it for punching holes and for setting eyelets -- the eyelets I use are mostly the bigger antique ones from SU. On top of a tag, bookmark or holding some mini-book pages together. But sometimes I'll still use the small ones.
And for hole punching -- yes, I sometimes use regular smaller ones but the Crop-A-Dile can cut through pretty big stacks of paper at once that it's a huge timesaver. And I have used it to punch holes in leather and metal -- fabulous!
The other feature that I love is setting the distance that the hole will be punched.
You should call the company. Some are very good about replacing items especially if it isn't very old. Or they may send you a part and tell you how to replace it.
I agree with Pamstamps2. Contact the company and explain what happened.
I'm surprised that it broke. I have used and probably abused my CAD and its
still going! Hope they are willing to help you out, either will replacing or repairing!
I left a post on their Facebook wall. I have only used it on cardstock...never used it on cardboard...I was surprised it broke too. Thanks for the suggestion about contacting the company!
I hope they come through for you. I've used it on lots of non-craft items without
any trouble (the abused part I was talking about!). It's always done well. It should
of held up with just using on the cardstock, for sure!
ha...ha... I grabbed the CAD today, just to cry over not being able to use it. It was okay...it didn't break off---it just was pushed in...AND now it's pushed out!!! Yay...I can use it for small eyelets again!

Well, that was a happy surprise for you! Glad it turned out well!!
Now, get to setting those 2,000 eyelets! Oh wait......I'm the one
with 2,000 eyelets!!!!!! LOL
LOVE IT! Everybody in my family loves that thing. I had a visitor at my house last summer that I think stole mine.. she was the last to use it and it was never seen again... so I bought another one.. it is one of those "must have" tools in your arsenal.
