Default Creative Memories custom cutting system.

Has anyone tried this? I was thinking of buying it, but wanted some opinions first.

IMO I did nto care for it, but I wasnt making cards with it either, I was actually using it to trim pictures to shapes so that may be a whole different ball game trimming card stock, but I thought it was tedious and time consuming, but I know people who also just love it,

Default CM cutting system

I LOVE my CM cutting system. I have the ovals, circles and the straight edge (which you can also do wavy lines). I LOVE it. I tried Coluzzle previously and I must be Coluzzle challenged. I just cannot get it.

Did I say I love my CM system!!?

Are you talking about the circle and oval cutting system? If so, I've been using it for scrapbooking for years and I love it. It's very easy to use.

Their cutting system is awesome. I don't care for the straight edge; I'd rather use my fiskars cutter. But their ovals and circles are great. You get perfect mats every time and it's easy.

How much is the basic set (mat + 3 blades)?
How much are the shape templates?

I've been trying to figure out the best way to cut ovals or squares on a card front to make a window. Would these work?

I love mine! I use it a lot for cardmaking too. It cuts the cardstock well and is great for making window cards. The straight edge (with wavy lines) are good for embellishments on quick, simple cards. Well worth the money.

I also love being able to create PERFECT mats for cards and scrapbooking. I'm one of those people who obsess about making the perfect mat, and since I don't have to cut these with scissors (like when using Layer-Ease) they are PERFECT!!

I like the system and use it a lot for scrapbooking! The price in the current catalog is $38 - which includes the cutting system mat, blades and choice of pattern set. I have the oval patterns, circle patterns and the 12" pattern - which cuts straight or has 2 decorative patterns. Individually the patterns are $14 each. They also have other patterns - check out the CM website.

It's a great investment! I'm not a CM consultant, but I'll promote it anyway. I believe in the CM quality products.

I really like my CM cutting system. I believe it's easy to use.

Does anyone have the either of the additonal decorative blades they sell for the straight/curvy edge? Antique and Arabesque?

I have thought about purchasing one. Is it worth the extra expense?

Thanks, Janice

I got the CM cutting system not long after they started selling it (before I started SU!) and I LOVE it. I have all the patterns and as soon as I start scrapping again, will put them to use. I use the circles and ovals the most. Easy to make the perfect mat.

A note about their straight edge and wavy cutter. If you haven't seen a CM catalog lately, they have changed that. There are now 2 different cutters: one straight edge and one with 2 different wavy patterns. I can't remember the prices and they are not in the catalog that I currently have (and can't remember where I put it). My CM consultant has tried the wavy cutter and said it's better than the old system. The straight edge reminds me a lot of the Fiskars style cutter. They have pictures of their products on their website at www.creativememories.com.

The entire ccs is $38, you get the mat, 3 blades & one set of templates (circles, ovals, straight edge, etc)
I have used this to cut circles in my cards for windows. Here's a link to my card that I made with the circle cutters.

I love the cutting system. I am so sold on it. My hubby bought another one for me first some fiskar circle looking thing, that I still have not figured out.
BUT the CM system was made for me. EASY to use!

CM CCS is the best. I can't imagine living without them. I have all of them! The mat & blades (starter) is $24 and each set of shapes is $14. Most people start with circles and/or ovals. I love the Wavy Frames, though. The 12-inch has been recently discontinued, but with the accessory blades on that (which I have extra of if anybody needs them) are what made the straight edge fun - they had Arabesque and Antique (some people call it deckle) edge. Very cool for making borders!

This was actually my first direct marketing purchase! It is a REALLY great investment - just be careful not to cut the plastic sheets that help you see where you are cropping the photo... I haven't done it yet, but there have been close calls!

I have the the whole CM cutting system too with all the extra's...Highly worth it. Even if you find it harder when you're starting, it's prety easy to catch on once you get used to it. I also have the arabesque blade, but I think that's discontinued also because they are not selling the straight edge anymore. I've also heard that the new straight edge is fantastic but I like that the old one is more compact and better value because you get straight and curvy all in one.
Some consultants still have staight edges and arabesque in their stock so if you ask around you might be able to track some down.
Hope that helps

Soni--Just so you and others who may not be aware (this is not intended to offend just inform), typing in all caps is considered "shouting" in netspeak?

As for the original question: CM shape cutting system.

I tried it but could not get the hang of it. It is considered a marvelous product by thousands, and I believe it probably is . . . The problems I had were most likely: (drumroll) ME! LOL!

I'm a die-hard Coluzzle fan--but not at first! When I first got it, I couldn't get the thing to work proper to save my life. Nearly threw it away. Then, SU! started carrying it. I pulled it back out and tried, but this time with the directions!!! Gee? What???? That piece of paper actually had some tips that made me learn to use it proper!!!!! Go figure! I'm LOL at myself here as I recall those moments!

I think everybody eventually finds a system that works best for THEM, and what they are comfortable paying, so I can't say that any one is particularly better than another??? I'd love a Sizzix, but can't bring myself to invest the $$$ in the machine + all the dies . . . it's a great system, but not affordable for me at this time. . .

Default My most prized possession for paper crafts....

I have all the pieces and have used them for years! Even had the old circle cutter. I bought two or three brands of circle cutters before CM made one. I just can't use the cuzzle. I've seen plenty of people use it but I just think it is too much work and still not a smooth cut.

I love, love, love the CCS. I think it is as much needed for cards as for scrapbooks.

I love my CM cutting system, too. I have pretty well switched over to everything SU otherwise, but this system is just terrific! Just practice with unwanted photos, cardstock, etc. until you get the hang of them, or use the include plastic templates (which are veyy easy to cut if you don't remove them first!) You can cut ovals, squares, circles, frames, hearts, etc. out so easily with these cutters! Start with whichever one appeals to you the most, I am more of an oval gal myself, but my good scrapbooking friend uses more circles! Then just add the templates as you can afford them. They cost about $14 a set and there is no shipping charge, just your local tax. I just recently got the new wavy frames for my birthday and can't wait to try them out!

I love the arabesque and antique cutters for the 12-in cutter and use them them more than the regular cutting blade! I bet that consultants will soon put these items (both the blades and the 12-in cutter) at a discount if they are discontinued? I would ask one, they may be anxious to move them out of their inventory now? I know my consultlant has 3 12-inch cutters that she is anxious to sell and I think she has already marked them down 20%.

Good luck!

I LOVE my CCS by CM - I do not care for the 12 inch but they have discontinued it and have a new cutter that looks great! It is on my to buy list for the future! Sometimes it take a bit to get used to the blades but it is really easy once you figure out how much pressure you need to use to cut whatever you are cutting!

I am Coluzzle challenged, but I LOVE the CM system! I'm mainly a stamper and use it a lot! The blades last forever too. Have had it for about 3 years and haven't replaced the blades yet!

I have every single pattern and love it all.
Something that may help is turning the blade counterclockwise. If you contact a CM consultant a good one will sit down with you and let you try it until you get the hang of it before you buy it!!!
