i have christmas money that needs to be spent on copics
so far i only have about 40 or so that were christmas gifts last year and this year and from the cert. class....
soooo, question is. where is the best place to buy them? to get the most bang for my buck? I figured I'd start here and ask, as i knew most of you would already know this!!
I buy all of my Copics from Oozak. He has the best prices and free shipping on $50. You must register and log in to get the best prices.
He normally ships the same day, but this week he is moving to a store front so he states on the site that the shipping will be as fast as he can do it in between moving.
I've had good luck from three different stores. The best deals depend on how many markers you plan to purchase.
Otakufuel: COPIC | OtakuFuel
Copic sketch are $5.24 each. You get free shipping when you order 3 or more markers. This is a great way to add to your collection 3 or 4 markers at a time. Free shipping does not apply to other items in the store, only Copic markers and ink.
DickBlick: Copic Sketch Markers - BLICK art materials
Copic Sketch are $5.24 each. But they often have special. Right now, there's a 20% off $169 and free shipping with purchase of $150 or more. With the 20% off deal, markers are only $4.19 each. This is a great deal if you're planning a huge order or you do like I did and combine a craft order with a couple friends.
I've found shipping and customer service to be excellent at all three of these online stores.
One thing to keep in mind: Copic prices go up on Jan. 1. If you know what colors you want and you have the money, you'll get the most bang for your buck by ordering in the next couple of days.
I only buy copics from Oozark. I did a lot of price checking and I've never found a company that beats Oozark's pricing. Oozark offers free shipping at the $50 mark and the turn around time is so fast!
one question - do the prices go up each year on Jan 1, or was this a copic announcement I missed? Thanks for letting me know! i'm spending about $150 or so, so I need to order asap!
No, the prices are going up due to the exchange rate between the dollar and the yen.

Here is the thread about the Jan 1st Copic increase.
The MSRP is not going up , but the price to the importer and the dealers is increasing due to the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Japanese Yen.
Scroll down and there is a detailed explanation from Rusty at Oozak.
Over the past few years the value of the US dollar has been devaluated vs other currencies.
I placed an order from Dick Blick yesterday as they are running a 20% discount and free shipping. Placed an order for 95 Sketch markers.... YEA
95????
I have only 80 markers and it took me most of 2011 to collect those!
What a ton of fun you are going to have when they arrive!!!!
And yeah, for placing your big order on DickBlick.com while the 20% is in effect. The $4.19 per marker is a BARGAIN! I got my biggest Copic purchase at DB before the Aug 2011 price increase. Ordered with friends, got the 20% and free shipping. Each marker ended up costing me $3.87. I will NEVER see that price for a brand new Copic marker again.
thank you all....so so so much! working on my order it's sooooo hard to decide!!
another question...what are some of your favorite stamps to use with the copics? I have a ton of stamps, but not a lot of them are very copic friendly. i'd like to get some that are great for coloring with copics.
If you like floral stamps, PTI's Year of Flowers series are wonderful to use with Copics. I stamped a bunch of these, and took them and my Copics when I flew to visit my son and his family over Christmas. My 11-yr old granddaughter and I spent an entire evening coloring. oohing and aahing over each other's creations. Oh, the fun we had. And now another Copic lover in the family!

Now is the wisest time to order if you want the best deal. These markers are now out of my price range, actually they became so with the previous price increase in Aug. Yet, I did order several CIAO markers to fill in some color gaps, which I will have to be satisfied with. I ordered from Oozak as I love their customer service as well as the free shipping with a a $50 order.
Happy coloring! Oh...I love many of the Penny Black stamps for coloring with Copics.
