Default Copic Woes

I am brand new to Copic markers and finally got a handful of Copic Sketches. Most of them are working great, but I have one marker that randomly drops ink blobs while I'm drawing with it.

I did a little research online and saw some advice to just take both caps off at the same time. It seemed to work at first, and then just as i was finishing an image a big blob of brown ink went splat on my owl.

Is there something more that I can do? Or should I go back to the retailer and ask for a replacement?

Would love to hear from someone who has more experience than I do with these markers.

I have 2 Copic markers, a red and a brown one, that do this constantly. I have ruined so many projects because of it. I haven't found anything that stops them from "blobbing". I did try filling an entire sheet of cardstock in each of the colors to see if maybe once they lost some ink they might behave, but no such luck. I think it is a defective brush tip. I gave up and don't use those colors any more unless I use the chisel end which doesn't seem to have the same issue as the brush end.

You mentioned that the chisel tip does not drip and think it is a defective brush. You can get replacement brush tips. Good luck!

Thanks Skippet!

The most frustrating part is that it will work fine for awhile and then surprise me at the worst moment with a big blob.

Ill go ahead and look into a refund/replacement. Otherwise, Ill try a new brush tip.

I would return it if you can. They aren't supposed to do that, and that's never happened to me. I think yours is defective.
