Default Computer/Adobe Question...please help!

I hope I can explain this clearly...
How do I get a frame around my photos that looks as though it were embossed so that the centre of the photo is raised and the outside edges are lower or curved? I use Adobe Photoshop (an older version). If I find an example of what I mean, I'll try to link it later...

I'm not sure of the step by step direction because my photoshop is on my other computer, which is broken right now, but I did find this tutorial on the web so I'll post the link for you. Hope it helps. If not, you could 'Google' it.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, is it like the postcard in this tutorial?

similar...it's more like the previous tutorial that java_jenny suggested. That one was pretty close to what I was thinking of. Sorry that my description is so poor!

It's under the Layer Properties -- right-click on the name of the layer where your image resides, and choose "Blending Options" to get the dialog box for making the image appear embossed (raised around the edges).

a big thanks to everyone who posted! I tried the tutorial that was suggested, and it seems to be doing the trick. I still want to play around with it a bit though, so any further suggestions are appreciated!

blending options won't work for me...it shows up in the menu, but faded. Do I need to select it first or be in a certain mode?

One more question...is there a way to make the border wider? Mine comes out quite thin.

5. Go to Select>Modify>Border. A window will pop-up and ask you how much space in pixels to put around your image. A good number is 10 but you can feel free to manipulate it to your needs.

This step in the tutorial - pick a larger number than 10 pixels
