Can you use the Top Note Bigz Die in the Cuttlebug?
Any information on this topic would be great...I am interested in purchasing the Top Note Bigz Die from Stampin up but I was wondering if it worked in the Cuttlebug machine...thanks so much and Happy Stamping, Erin
i had this same question too. you can use any big shot die in the cuttlebug. depending of the size of the die. you place one or two B plates down, then your die, then your paper, and then another set of B plates. If it is an XL die, you wil need 4 B plates. if it is regular sized, you only need 2 which is included with th purchase of your cuttlebug machine.
Hope this helps
yes you can. I do it all the time. In the cuttlebug instruction there is the sandwich place if you use the thicker dies, which are the sizzix kind, and it works perfectly!

As far as the B plates go instead of using 4 B plates get a set of the decorative strip cutting pads to use on the top of the sandwich. (Side by side) Then just feed the 2 B plates into the machine one after the other on the bottom.
I tried using the Pillow box die with my Cuttlebug. Every time I do, it seems like the plates are going to crack and break. I am using plate B, die, cardstock, plate B. Why is it not working for me when everyone else says it works perfectly for them?
After seeing this question before on SCS, I was encouraged to call my demo and also a dear friend. She brought hers over and it worked beautifully in the bug. Guess what I ordered:cool:

It sounds like you are doing it right. That's the sandwich that I use. Is your cuttlebug new? I've read that some of them are a little more snug than others, but loosen up over time. In the manual that came with my bug, it says to use the B, die, B sandwich, so I can't imagine that doing it would break the machine. Does yours cut? Or you can't get it to go through at all?
I think I was being too timid with it. It is a new machine, and it seemed like the sandwich was too thick, but I gave it a little extra muscle power and it went through. The plates pop a little bit, so I was afraid I would crack them.
Thank you for the link to the Spellbinders site. Can't wait to order these. I love Nestabilities. So versatile.
These [B]do[B] look like the Top Note. I've seen some really nice uses of the Top Note and would like to make them but the Nestabilities are so much more useful than just the one die. And about the same price, I imagine.
As the previous poster says, it's so great the we can ask for information and someone on this board comes up with the answer. ;) Thanks, again.
Anytime I can return the favour, just let me know.

P.S. Did you happen to see my thread, in Techniques, about Making Your Own Glue Dots? If not, check that out. It really works!

You are welcome!
I have been holding off buying the top note die because I think I would get more use out of the nestabilities one.....plus I love the embossed edge!
I have to agree about this message board...people here are so helpful and friendly! Every question I have ever posted has been answered, so I try to do the same!
Glad you checked out the glue dots. It's great being able to make them any size, too.
Have a great weekend, yourself. It's sunny, cool and clear, here in Ontario, today. The colours are fantastic in the trees and the sky is that blue-aqua that only seems to happen in the Fall.
I have another question about the top note die. I just got mine and want to layer a white layer onto a chocolate chiplayer and I tried cutting on the perferated edge of the white one in order to get the layered look but it looks bad! is there another way to do it and get the nice neat edge that I have seen on cards on scs. thanks for your help. mel
The sandwich formula for the Cuttlebug is a B plate, the die, your paper, and another B plate... if I remember correctly...
Run the top note back through with an embossing folder -- if using patterned paper... it is subtle but very effective!
I have also been pondering on the pros and cons between the Spellbinders dies and the Top Note die. However I am tempted by the Top Note die even thought it doesn't seem such good value as the set of dies just because I love the perforated edge. I might just end up with both. Oh and I will also be using mine in my cuttlebug.

I use the Top Note in my Cuttlebug and it works great! Haven't bought the Nestabilities one yet---still wondering if I really need it--so for now the Top Note is doing its job for me.
