Default Bigshot/Big Kick

Hi -

I have not used my Bigshot in a very long time. I have some of my older spellbinder dies and new MFT dies.

If I remember correctly you could cut & emboss in one pass. But I don't remember the sandwich.

I have a black thick rubber mat & 2 thin tan rubber mats. Could someone give me the sandwich to cut & Emboss in one pass.

Thank you,
Katie

After cutting many dies, I can't imagine that you can cut and emboss in one pass. I tried the Spellbinder's recommendation to cut with the normal plates, leave the paper within the die after it's cut, put it back on Big Shot with a pad under the die with paper and run it through again. Way too much trouble. When I use the open dies (ovals, circles, etc) I leave the paper within the die, turn it paper side up, on a hard surface, and run my bone folder around the inside edge of the die. Makes a nice raised edge.

I posted this back in 2010, but not many people thought it would work. I've used this method, and it works pretty well:

After much trial-and-error, frustration, and cursing , I've finally come up with a sandwich that works for me when I want to cut and emboss my Spellbinders dies in one step when using my Big Kick. Keep in mind that this does not produce an extremely deep embossing, but it is definitely noticeable enough for me. In addition to the usual materials, you will need a magnet sheet. It is just the right thickness, and it keeps the dies from sliding around. I bought one at Michael's for a few dollars. Here is the sandwich, from top to bottom:

Clear Mat
Cardstock/Paper (face-down)
Die (blade-up)
Magnet Sheet
Clear Mat
Multi-Purpose Platform

You might try adding a cardstock shim, but it was too thick for my comfort. I don't like forcing things through my BK. I hope this works as well for you as it does for me. (I will be cross-posting this in the Big Shot forum.)
