I love my Big Shot. I have never used a cameo. The Big Shot is great for doing favors and stuff. That's what I use mine for the most. I am new to this site and trying to figure out where I can post some of my creations. But thought I would start here with seeing what other folks are posting!
I have both the Big Shot and a Silhouette (think that is the same as a cameo - but not sure?) as well; anddddd I love them both!
Nowadays though, I use the Big Shot for my embossing and the Silhouette for limitless printing. It is MUCH cheaper than the buying dies all the time. Especially here in Australia where a simple cuttlebug die is about $40 and the alphabet ones are $150 a set! You have so many more options with the printer. However, even though I am rather tech savvy I needed my geeky husband to actually install the printer because it was a bit tricky (maybe I am not as savvy as I think, lol). That was the only down side to the printer which really bugged me. It really wasn't a case of simple plug n play.
So - if money is not an object, get both However, depending on whether you want to emboss or cut, let that help you decide which one to invest in.
I love making cards and other crafts.
I don't know what type of machines such as the Big Shot or the Silhouette Cameo I should invest in.
Can someone please help me make a choice?
Thank you so much for your time and help!
Jacqueline
I have an Original Sizzix, a BIGkick (identical to Big shot) and an eCraft (electronic cutter). Use all three...but differently. Love the design options offered by an electronic machine, love the many techniques suitable for mechanical machines.
Sizzix Clearance has the BIGkick on sale for $49.99...only difference between that machine and the BigShot is cosmetic. Here's the Sizzix link: Clearance | Sizzix.com
If you enjoy card making sizzix is a good choice because the dies cut/score for you which saves alot of time headache and hastle when trying to see where it is you are supposed to score on the cut out from an electronic cutter.. let me give you an example... I have a cricut expression 12x24 eletronic cutter... i got an add one day in email from sizzix near valentines promoting a heart box with the heart closure about a 2.2x 2.2 box this was a die for the big shot pro so i remembered that i had a cricut cart with the same exact design on it so i got to it ilaid it out on design studio picked paper cut it out scored it inked it and glued them together that took me 6 hours start to finish to make 6 boxes......... in comparison in 2 hours with the sizzix big shot pro box die (after i got it) i made a total of 38 with stamping, inking and embellishing so yes the dies cost alot (unless you buy them on clearance like i do) but once bought there are no add on fees like blade replacement, new matts etc and for me personally the time saving factor has been outstanding and made it where i can make my own packaging for our products that is cute and vintagey & very personably
