I thought the extra 20% was for stamps sets only in the previews. Anybody?
Correct it only applies to the stamp sets offered in previews. This is why the level 3 bundle wasn't discounted even though stamps are a part of the set.

Just checked Sizzix website and they are selling the Big Kick starter kit for $65. It does everything that the Big Shot does--it's just last year's model in red and white. I have one and love it! I am so excited that Stampin Up has formed a "strategic alliance" with Sizzix to open up a whole area of fun for us.
I have a couple of the BIGZ dies and have run them through my CB with no problem. Kind of disappointing to realize that I won't be able to use all of them in it, though. <sigh> WHY OH WHY did I start that financial diet???????????? I really want that starter kit!
Hmmmmmm.....if I say I can struggle through without the bag, maybe that'll be enough of a "compromise" to make it reasonable?? (Just tryin' that out for size in my mind here, lol)

I guess I'll be selling my Cuttlebug!
I have a Big Shot and it works with all dies. I use Nestabilities, Cuttlebug, Quickutz, along with the Sizzix, Sizzlits and Bigz ... they all work fantastic!

Okay, maybe I didn't real through these posts enough but one question.
I have the red, original Sizzix machine. Will these SU bigz die's fit in my machine or will I have to get the new one? Thanks. Jennie
No, they will not cut the Bigz dies but they will work on everything else.
as a nonconvention goer this year I am curious-If I wait until august 11 couldn't I order it and get the 20% discount that we receive and then have my sales total for whatever else I may order from the new catalog go towards hostess benefits? Wouldn't this be better deal than the preorder?

Did I see it right being $195? How does that compare to the CB? I am not sure I would be able to sell something that much (or purchase one myself). I thought the CB's were much less (especially with a 40% of coupon?). My clubbers will know the prices (I just don't shop much at Michaels or JoAnns - ((I try to excluvely shop SU)).

That is exactly what I'm doing. Since the 11th is not quite 2 weeks away, I think I can practice my patience. I don't want any more of the hostess sets from the current catalog but DO want the other level 2 from the new catalog. I might as well wait not quite two weeks and pump up my order with the Big Shot and dies, then be able to get those new hostess sets that I usually don't have large enough orders to qualify for.

That is what I am going to do. I want the bennies from the new catalog! I think you can still get the bundle on the 12th.

Reason: Typo
CB retails for around $80
Big Shot retails for the same as SU! $99.95 (The bundle is ~$20 savings with the exclusive dies + extra pads). The case is sold on the Sizzix website for $60+ $9 shipping.
Big Kick (the old machine that is a wee bit smaller & from what I gather a bit less sturdy) sells for about $70 (with no accessories)
BigzXL will NOT fit in the cuttle bug as they are 1/2" too wide

OK - Thanks for the info. The $99 doesn't sound bad - but I guess you really need to get the bundle for the dies?? $195 is alot to swallow - especially in these economic times!
I think we should all email DS and ask for a 40% coupon or special like the offer at the stores.
However, we could offer some nice bennies to customers that purchase these. !!!
To buy all the items separately is $205.65, so the package saves about $10. I did notice that several sites sell Big Shots cheaper. Its like the CAD, you can find it slightly cheaper at other stores, but it doesn't look exactly the same (like the CADs black handles) The SU one is all black, no pink on it.
Also, does anyone know if we can change the dies we get? I know when we get our demo kit, we can customize a bit. I just wonder if there is any flexibility with the Big Shot kit.
Well for the many people who already have a Big Shot or Big Kick which are the same machine just different colors, I can't see those who are also SU demos buying a new machine. Here's one area where it will be hard not to use an SU product. I mean paper and markers are one thing. But who's going to spend another $100 or $200 to get the machine they already have.

I'm curious about this one too! I went to the Spellbinders website and see that the Wizard is compatible with Sizzix Originals, Zip e Slims, Thick Cuts by Ellison Design, Sizzix Bigs, Sizzlets and Thin Cuts by Ellison Design.
Is the Sizzix Bigs and the Thick Cuts the type of die that SU will be selling?

All the dies will work except for the XL ones, ones bigger than 6". Also the long ones requiring the extended platform, or whatever it's called will not work.....unless CB comes out with an extended platform - then I think they would work.
This is my thought process on it anyway, someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I have a couple of the Bigz dies, not the XL ones and they work perfectly in my bug.
Joan B just posted this blog on another thread - you apparently CAN use the XL dies in the Cuttlebug - so exciting!!!!

Yes, that's what I am doing too. I almost hit the order button today ... but then I decided that I would probably want to spend major $$$ when I see the catalog, so I should wait. I would hate to place a big order now, and then regret it when I see the catty, and that's probably what would happen! And besides ... I don't need any "old" hostess sets!

I agree with you on this one. I have the big kick (and the sidekick and the regular sizzix and the cricut and use all of them for different reasons) but I am not going to buy the new SU one. I had used other things that SU brought out after I already owned then and just explained it to my customers. They also appreciate me telling them that and wind up spending more with me. And half the time they do buy it through SU because they don't feel like driving to THOSE stores to buy it even with a coupon.

I don't know what SU's policy will be on this, but ... they know so many crafters already own the machines. So to me, I would think the real selling point would be the dies and especially the exclusive dies. I know that is what I will sell the most of. My ladies are going to love this when they finally see the brochure @ Open House. They all have machines already, so I think they will go crazy over the dies.

Oh, yeah for me! I haven't bought a die cut machine yet as I have just had a too busy year, so now as a customer I can get the package plus hostess benefits, correct? I am so glad I waited to get this! I am really wanting nestabilities, too so thank you all for saying that they will also fit in the Big Shot!

i just bought my cuttlebug and only used it once. i wish i would have waited. the only thing that i am happy about is that i was able to use a 50% off coupon at the store which i wouldn't be able to do with SU. that is the only thing that is making me feel better. i hope that the dies work well with the cuttlebug because i can't take mine back now.
I have the Big Kick and it works with everything - Cuttlebug, Wizards, Nestabilities, QuicKutz, not sure about the Boss Cuts. I also have the Sizzix SideKick. Will NOT be buying the Big Shot but am certainly looking forward to the dies & embossers!
I'm glad that I already own a Cuttlebug (love that cute lil' thing!) - I don't feel tempted to buy the machine at all, but there's a couple of dies I'll probably have to buy!

Same here...just bought my CB a week ago and got a good deal (and have been having a blast playing with it). Hoping with you that the SU dies work with the CB.

CB users all the dies except the BigZ will work in your CBs!!!! So Smile and start being creative with dies you will get . Plan now so you can have the great projects to help your customer see the die cutting light!! Good Luck!

It was the same for me when SU brought out the crop-a-dile... I had a pink one and couldn't justify buying a new one just because it was the wrong colour. But when my sister wanted to buy a CAD, she agreed to take the pink one from me and let me have the black SU one! Maybe you just need to find someone who wants a Bigshot and won't mind having yours!
Yes, Gale, you can use the Impressions folders in the CB. Go to www.sizzix.com to see what they look like. They are brass templates in a special folder. I have dozens of them.
I would rather have the SU machine as it will be great to take it to demonstrations. I wouldn't feel comfortable taking the CB, which goes back tomorrow! And I would really like my customers to fall in the love and buy it and increase my demo sales. So, for me, it is an easy choice. Buy the SU one. Maybe if I didn't have the cuttlebug and already had the Big Shot, I would feel differently.
Check out my blog for photos of projects using the dies AND the list of over 50 cool materials you can cut with them! (vinyl, cork, wood veneer, metal, etc).
Blog link is below in my signature line!
PS I've used the cuttlebug successfully with the bigger thicker Sizzix dies - just omit Plate A (the thick white one) from your "sandwich".
Can the Big Shot dies and Embossing Folders be used in the Cuttlebug? LM :-)
Yes the Sizzix Dies will work in the Cuttlebug. Even the big fat ones. You just have to change your sandwhich formula. I have a CB and don't plan on buying the new Big Shot because I don't have enough room to store something that doesn't fold up like the CB. But I will be buying the SU exclusive dies.
