Default Best paper for Cricut??

I ordered my first Cricut, the expression 2! I have heard of Paper layerz, and was wondering what other paper works best. And can one use smaller pieces than 12x12 in it?

I also bought some cartridges.

I've used most cardstock successfully. Cricut also sells different mats for materials as thin as printer paper, all the way up to much thicker, non-paper materials. You can use smaller than 12x12; you just have to move the blade to the edge of the paper and set the size of the paper before you start.

I bought some adhesive backed paper DCWV I think it was and Sizzix sells some too. This paper is the BOMB when you are cutting out letters...

Thanks!! The adhesive paper seems like our would work well with the cricut. So what size papers so you prefer?

I always wondered if the adhesive backing would deposit a bunch of unwanted adhesive gunk to the cutting pad. You don't have that problem? I've bought tons of that DCWV adhesive backed cardstock but primarily to use for die-cutting. It's great for the brands of die with thin flourish lines and branches. Most of the adhesive cardstock sets are mat sized, which would be pretty small for using with the Cricut.

But what's great about the cricut, you see exactly where it's gonna cut, so you can place those smaller pieces of paper/cardstock :-)

I don't have a cricut, but I do have a Craft Robo and the best cardstock I have found to use in my cutter is the Recollections paper from Michaels. Other than that, I like Bazzill.

I use just about anything except heavily glittered paper. And even that will work if the cut isn't too intricate. But I buy big stacks of solid colored paper anywhere the price is right. Sometimes the textured DCWV paper can be problematic, but not enough for me to stop using it. LOVE the DCWV Shimmer Stack!
